After 11 months, 1 naturopath, 1 chinese medicine doctor, 1 accupuncturist, two family practice doctors, 1 ENT doctor, 1 rheumatologist, 2 dermatologists and one scary "sure fire" drug that never worked...I am seeing some improvement.
Its not a cure and things aren't great but it's the first bit of hope I've had in nearly a year. I'm really happy but terrified to be too hopeful.
Just wanted to update because you have all been so supportive.
Re: Skin update :-)
So you quit the meds? What's the new course of treatment that's helping you improve? I'm SO happy for you. Hope it continues to get better!

Yes, I'm no longer taking that drug. I guess I'm one of a small percentafe of people that it doesnt work for. Very frustrating. But, 3 weeks ago i decided to get a 2nd opinion from a new dermatologist. She started me on light therapy and a skin wrapping regimen. I wrap my hands and feet every night with bandages and vaseline. At first i also put a steroid ointment on them but you can only do that for 2 weeks. I saw dramatic improvement within the first week.
No, it's not a cure. And, we havent found the trigger. I'll probably have to keep up some form of this forever. And, it doesn't address some of my problem areas like my nails. I'll likely have to try another systemic drug at some point, tho who knows if it will work. But, for right now, this is awesome. I am in so much less pain!
This is GREAT news! I am so happy that you are finally seeing some results. It's not fair that you've had to suffer so long.
I know we don't have the same thing, but I have found that keeping vaseline on my rash (hand eczema, dyshidrosis, whatever it is) helps to keep my finger from cracking. I got a stronger steriod cream, but it still isn't doing the trick! How does the light therapy work?
It's this little machine that basically concentrates the same type of rays that you'd get from the sun on your skin. I go 3 times a week. The theory is that is slows down cell growth and psoriasis is over active skin cell growth. That's it in a nutshell.
