Hi all
I don't post much here but I lurk. My daughter , who is 14 months old, is Blind. My husband and I are also both visually impaired so this was not a shock to us she is currently in ?t, pt, vision stim and other therapies. She is awesome and a spit fire. Anyway, she does have some severe motor delays which means she is no where near walking or crawling. So, my challenge comes in when we welcomes our second baby, a boy. I am just feeling a little overwhelmed by having two non movers and wondering if anyone has any advice. On how to safely carry two, how to move them both at the same time etc
Thanks so much!
Re: Advice for carrying/transporting 2 non walkers.
She can sit propped and is close to independent sitting.
i have a small dealership of strollers. I have the baby jogger double city mini. It's a side by side double stroller that has independently reclining seats and a car seat adapter for the one side. Most of the tandem doubles, the front doesn't recline if there is a carseat in the back.
I also have a lightweight double maclaren umbrella stroller for when DS2 is older.
I wish I had a single snap n go for when I take DS1 out for quick errands.
I also have a single maclaren umbrella stroller and then I'll wear DS2. I have a Moby, ring sling and a Beco.
This is exactly our story. DD2 is deafblind and non-ambulatory. She can do some independent cruising in places she knows are safe, but any walking requires assistance. Its incredibly scary for her and she needs a steady hand to hold. Our baby boy is due in 7 weeks!
We also have a dealership's worth of strollers and carriers.
A single Maclaren, which I put tomato inserts in for DD, a double bumbleride, and a britax b-ready (we also have a britax infant seat which inserts super easily into this). With my older girls, I'd predominantly used the bumbleride and loved it, but I think the britax will be the easiest to use with a newborn and non-ambulatory preschooler, because it so easily goes from a single to a double with out ANY added weight when I'm pulling it out of the trunk. I'm planning to use that as our primary stroller with DD's seat attached in the main part, carry baby, and have the car-seat the bottom for when I need to switch to holding DD instead. When baby boy is a bit bigger, I'd also like to try out wearing him on my back so that I can still bend down to offer DD assistance with her walking.
