December 2011 Moms

Am I the only one who hates Mum mums?

Maybe it's just because B is still figuring how to eat them, but most of the time they just become a big, gummy, sticky, yucky mess. And B doesn't seem to think they're that great. I guess we're just not on the bandwagon...

BFP #1- 4/2011; DD Brynn born 12/2011

BFP #2- 7/13; EDD- 4/2/14; Lost DS at 20 weeks (11/16/13) due to cord accident

To my angels- I held you every second of your lives and I'll love you every second of mine.

  • I have a love/hate relationship with them. Hate them because they are messy and sticky, like you said. Love them because they keep DD quiet and entertained in restaurants!

  • I prefer puffs because they do get really sticky and messy, but so is life these days! E can feed himself the puffs, so I don't think I'll get more mum mums when this box is gone.

  • After someone pointed out that they are made in China, I'd go with hate.  We like our food as local as possible, and definitely from the USA.

We have tried the HappyBaby puffs from WF and he likes those.  The only issue is that they end up all over the floor.  Does it make me a bad mom if I pick them up and give them back to him? (at home only).

LOL, that was me.  I tried the organic ones, but they ended it a huge, sicky mess.  I hate them.   I use puffs too.

  • No mum mums here!!

  • I hate Mum mums. They're sticky and awful. B doesn't like them either unless he's feeding them to Hemi, which he seems to think is great fun.

  • I'm not a huge fan of Mum mums.  We have the organic ones, and like you've all said, they become a huge sticky mess.  But, they keep him "entertained" and he can "eat" dinner with DH and me.

The other day DH wanted to stop at Walmart (he likes their frozen waffles...eewww!!)  Anyway, I ran through the baby section to see if they had anything good.  I found the Parent's Choice Baked Rice Rusk Cups.  They're like mini Mum Mums.  They're a little bigger than a quarter and they're made in the US.  LO seems to like them!

  • I may start going the puffs or cheerios route soon. I'm guessing the puffs dissolve a little more easily than cheerios do?

  • What is a mum mum exactly?  I know what puffs are....

We just started solids at six months  (2 weeks ago).  We are doing pur?es.  I'm making my own food and buying organic to send with him to daycare (we can't bring our own).  It seems like it will take forever to introduce all the types of food!  When did you introduce puffs/mum mums?

  • N loves the parent's choice (the ones Keylime is talking about) he also likes their brand of puffs the apple ones, although they fell victim to dh. I bought a box of mum mums the other day just to check them out. I found the organic ones. he does make a huge mess but its cute and he does like them. The only problem is i cant have that and solids at the same time because he cant choose :)

  • I tried them but my DD put a huge piece in her mouth and gagged. It scared me and I haven't given them to her since. I talked to her pedi about it and she said she doesn't like them because they teach snacking and mindless eating. I'm not sure if I will try them again or not.

  • DS used to love them, but he seems to have gone on a Mum Mums strike.  I am bummed that I have a full box of Mum Mums in our cupboard, but happy that I don't have to clean up after them.  When they dry they are almost impossible to get off of anything without resoaking them again.

We started solids about a month or so ago, but have not given any type of snacks...I do not even really know what a mum mum is, although I gather they are sticky and messy.

  • L loves them but they are so gross and messy and sticky that I stopped giving them to him.  The only thing I really used them for was to entertain him while we were eating dinner.  Now I just give him bits of real food to play with instead.

  • I don't like them either, he doesn't seem that crazy about them anyway but we no longer give them.  He bites off huge chunks and gags and it scares the heck out of me.  He prefers the puffs and so do I.
