Cheap alternative to a nursing bra...why didn't I think of this?

I was telling my mom about how I needed to start looking for nursing bras and tanks since we're getting down to the wire here. She asked me what a nursing bra was, so I told her, and she said when she was nursing, she just bought bras (without underwire) that snapped/clasped in the front instead of the back.

They were so much smarter in the 80's.

    Just remember to get wireless. :). I think I'll still go with nursing.  I think hooking it back on wouldn't be as discreet (and the bra sounds like it'd get in the way), though for most occasions I'm sure this would perfect.

    Good point. Leaks, or you're trying to be incognito and the other boob escapes. Good in theory, but might not work 100% of the time. I also needed the nursing clips for my hands free pump.

    Might work for some, but it wouldn't have worked for me. I would have leaked and I don't think I could do that clasp with one hand like the nursing bras. Of course it's doable to use them, but it wouldn't be ideal for me personally.

    I used some of those sports bras that cross/ overlap in the front, you can pop one out and leave the other in.

    Wouldn't have worked for me.  First, the non feeding boob leaks/lets down with the feeding boob, without a cup keeping it all together I'd lose the nursing pad, leak on the shirt I was trying to keep covered with, and be a general mess.  Second, who wants to fiddle with multiple hook and eye closures when you can just deal with one clasp?  Not this girl - hungry babies are impatient!  Last, front hook bras in general never worked for me and my boobs, even when they were all the rage and easy to find my giganto boobs/cleveage always seemed to pop them open at inopportune times.  Nursing bras aren't that much more expensive than any other bra and anything that makes nursing easier is a plus in my book.

    Only thing bad about front closing is - you cant use a bra extender... which is what I am living it- great pregnant than after baby take off and can use bra.
