Running shorts?

So I just bought my first pairs of running shorts a few weeks ago.  I guess I am a little surprised that two pairs, two different brands both have mesh liners in them...  like men's swim trunks.  Do people go commando under these? 

Sorry if this seems odd, I just started running 2 years ago (I have worn pants, capris or compression shorts because I thought my thighs would rub together too much).

    I certainly do!  The lining wicks moisture so much better than other underwear - so I find it much more comfortable.  It requires a bit more laundry, but once I made the switch, I hate going back to non-running shorts!

    If they have the built in undies I won't wear my own, even with the compression shorts!  So much more comfortable, and no wedgies to deal with.  I thought it was weird at first, but I quickly got over that.  Happy running :)

    I never thought about this.  It makes a lot of sense though!!

    I always run commando. Whether wearing shorts, capris, etc. And it is tough to find running shorts without the mesh lining. I have a friend who HATES that lining and has a hard time finding any without.

    I wear underwear under the lining.

    I always wore my own panties with lined running shorts.  But then I realized how annoying it was.  Instead of going the commando route, I cut the liners out of my shorts.

    I have NEVER even thought about running without panties with lined shorts and everyone I ran track/cross-country with always worn panties too, but obviously with the number of PP going commando, that must be a viable option too.  I'm definitely keeping the panties though!
