Cranky/short FIL rant

For the past month, I've only been sleeping for 1 1/2 to 2 hours at a time before needing to get up to pee during the night (which I'm sure you're all familiar with).  My close friends and family know that I have a "do not call or text between the hours of 10pm and 9am" policy.  No, I don't sleep for 11 hours a night, but sometimes it takes that long for me to get 7 hours.  I keep my phone on at night in case of emergency (my MIL is ill and the last time I turned my phone off at night, I forgot to turn it back on the next day and that was the night my uncle died, so I'm paranoid).  My FIL knows for a fact that DH and I don't work in the mornings, yet he texts BOTH of us really early (sometimes as early as 7am) with things that are not important!  I'm sure there is a sale on doors at Menards, but if it's not going to end in the next hour, you could just email me that info!  Furthermore, we have a house FULL of working doors!  And doesn't it make sense that if neither of us is working, we're probably in the same place at 8am (AKA ~ OUR BED!), so texting one of us is probably enough?

Ugh, I'm just cranky.  Thanks for reading!

Re: Cranky/short FIL rant

  • My MIL does the texting/calling of both of us all the time. It is definitely annoying.

But as a suggestion, can you just put your phone on silent with no vibrate at night? I also don't like to turn mine off in case of an emergency (so that at least I can check and whatnot) but that way I won't be disturbed by it.

  • My mom calls at 7 on a Saturday asking if we are still asleep! It's so annoying. I agree the only way to fix the problem is on your side. I doubt he would change unless you yell at him and I'm not sure if that is the best way to handle the situation.
  • I could turn off the ringer/vibrator but I feel like I shouldn't have to.  People should have some manners and not text that early in the morning.  Even if I'm awake, I don't call or text anyone until after 10am.

  • It is for this reason that my phone is set to not make any noises until 8am. I love my droid.

  • Ahhhh yes............... Yes.  I have this problem.

I'm getting a home phone next week.  It will be for emergencies only.  Then my cell can be turned off.  I'll tell our families that it's fifty bucks a minute or someshit, so only use it for emergencies.  Ha.

I almost broke my cell phone when MIL called at 610am last weekend.  DH was scared.  I had just fallen asleep... FINALLY.  Grr.

    My mom does this too!

OP what if you put your phone on silent and just check it every couple of hours when you wake up?
