December 2011 Moms

What "words" does you LO say?

I think LO is going to start talking early. He says Dada, Mama, baba, and try's to say dog but it comes out more like duh lol. He started off saying dada and said it all the time not just when DH was around but now it seems he knows what all these words mean. What works is your LO saying or trying to say?

Re: What "words" does you LO say?

  • We are just getting consonants at this point, mostly. She says a lot of babababa, mamamama, dadadada, and puhpuhpuh. I always say "up" and reach for her when I pick her up, and the other morning she reached her arms to me and said "up"...clear as day!  I haven't gotten that again, but I am pretty sure there was meaning behind that :)

Do you just melt when he says Mama? I bet that is amazing and I can't wait for it!!

  • At this point, we're still getting just consonant sounds, but he does say "ahm, mom, mom".  I don't think it has any meaning (yet!) but I melt when I hear it!

  • It has sounded like he is saying Mama but is more like "muhmuhmuh." He also does "baba" and "buhbuh" a lot.

The forst time he said it he looked right at me and said mama clear as day. I cried and hugged him for a good 5 mins lol. Best feeling ever!!

  • My LO says dada, mama, numnum (when eating food), but I don't think he has a clue what any of it means. ;) The only consistent word he applies to something is "gah" whenever he sees my parent's/my DH's parent's dogs.

  • He says Dada when he's happy and playing. He says Mama when he's upset, hungry, or wants out of the PNP. I think he can understand the word milk because I've been saying it to him since he was a newborn. When my milk comes down I say Milk several times then when we switch sides I say More. Idk. Could be all in my head, but when I say do you want some milk... sometimes he will start opening his mouth and slobbering on my face.

  • DD is saying "mamama", "dadada", "nanana" and "mmmmmm" when she is eating. I am pretty sure her first actual words might be "damn it Murphy".. Our dog.

  • He blows raspberries.  All.the.time.
  • He slips out a mama or mom every once in awhile, usually while crying lol. But he mostly says "rawr" because my DH has been doing that to him for months, and taught him it.

  • Our DS is practicing his consonants.  He started with mmmamamamaaa, then dadddadada.  He lunges at me when he says mamamamaaa, so he might know what that means.  He knows the word "milk" and uses the sign for it, and kind of grins when he does it.  He also says "nananaaa" when he wants to nurse, which is a carryover from his newborn days.

My mom tells him "We're gonna go see mommy!" when she brings him to my work, and when she tells him that he gets really quiet all the way to my work ... a 30 minute drive. She also tells him "Mommy's coming home!" and when I drive into the community, if he's outside in the stroller, he smiles hugely when he sees my car.

He yells BABABAAABAAAA! When he's upset or frustrated, and it's really weird to hear that over the monitor in the middle of the night (instead of crying) when he moves into a different sleeping position.

This sounds like my LO lol. And she growls. She's been saying "bababa" for a couple weeks now. She said what sounded like "mama" "dada" and "gaga" the other day. So I'm hoping she'll be continuing saying those. I'm patiently waiting for mama.
