MaterniT21 test?

Has anyone taken this?  I am curious specifically about cost.  Since it is a new test, I have heard you have to pay up front.  I left a message for the company to try and find out but they don't open for a few hours and obvs I am impatient.

Re: MaterniT21 test?

  • We opted to not take it.  With the NT looking good, we just decided to go with it.  $500 up front is a wee bit pricy- and I am betting that my insurance would not cover it.

  • Mine was 235. I had a slightly off NT scan, so I found it reassuring and well worth the cost (all is well).

  • My insurance does cover it, but my NT scan was good so opted out.
  • You can't do it with twins.

I certainly did. My genetic counselor said the result accuracy goes down marginally (perhaps a point) but that is all.

Oops sorry looks like they started doing it for twins in May of this year.

  • I did it.  You pay either 235 or 475 depending upon the the type of insurance you have.  It was well worth it for extra piece of mind for me. Plus I like the idea of supporting a company that is investing in this kind of non invasive diagnostic testing.

  • Thanks everyone.  I discussed with my OB a few minutes ago and we are going to wait until my next level 2 u/s in a few weeks and go from there.

  • Yes you can take it with twins.  It took some research on my OBGYN's part but they found out that you can infact do it with twins and I had it done.  The cost depends on your insurance.  I think the max you would have to pay is $475, that is what we had to pay.  But it differs depending on if you have a EPO or a PPO.   With some risk factors that we have my husband and I found it very reassuring a worth the money.
