Sleep...

...or lack thereof.

Any tips for sleeping better? I haven't had a decent night's sleep yet this week. Between the congestion when I lay down, and getting up at least 3 times a night to pee, and the early morning insomnia--I'm feeling like a zombie. I expected this in the 3rd trimester and after the baby is here but not now!

Re: Sleep...

  • I had a few nights where I just couldn't get any good sleep so the things I changed were adding more pillows so I slept more propped up (two behind my head and a third that I place under my back/shoulders, slanting up the two pillows, added another blanket because I tend to be really cold at night (especially with DH blasting the AC on the super chilly setting!), and I try to get the majority of my fluids in by 7 or 8.

When I really couldn't get comfortable, I tried putting a pillow between my knees and that seemed to help a lot too

I still get up once a night at the minimum, but it has become routine at this point.

I hope you are able to get some restful sleep soon!

  • I have not slept well either. I did go to the gym one afternoon (it was free pizza day) did the elliptical for 30 min and walked for 40 min and that night I slept the whole night through and woke up in the same position as when I fell asleep. I have not gone back to the gym since and have not slept through night since.

  • I've experienced bouts of sleeping troubles too and it's so frustrating!  I'm tired even if I get a good night's sleep!

A few things that helped me: fresh sheets on the bed (don't know why, but I just love the feeling of fresh sheets!), using a body pillow, and turning a fan on (for the white noise, to make it cooler, and breezy feeling).

    GL!

Sorry! I'm on my phone and hit send to quick!!

But I'll try to reposition my pillows to get more comfy. Just different little things I keep trying. Sometimes they help for that night. Which I take a good night of sleep over none!!

  • i haven't had trouble sleeping lately....but i've had congestion issues myself...my ob said i could take regular sudafed, mucinex or just use a saline spray....i took some sudafed and it was better...but i haven't taken it regularly, just before i go to bed at night...but it helps...i'd check with your ob to see if they say its ok for you to take

  • This is an expensive option that we opted for.. we finally took the plunge and bought a king size bed with a tempurpedic mattress... It got here yesterday.. and I had the most amazing sleep I've had in weeks.  I got up to pee twice last night, but I was able to fall immediately back asleep.. and I don't even remember going once! For once I woke up and felt pretty rested!

  • Glad to know I'm not the only one with sleep issues! I use nasal spray/neti-pot for the congestion, sleep with a fan on for comfort/white noise, read before turning out the lights, and try to drink most of my fluids before 8:00... I may need to invest in a good body pillow this weekend... Also, I would love to work out as I know that would really help, but my doctor still has me on restrictions so it's not possible right now... I do take a walk a few times a week but it's not enough... I'll keep trying new things until something works! :)
