Does your DD let you do her hair?

My DD will scream and try to get away when I say let's put your hair in a pony tail. The only thing I can do is clip a bow in real quick and sometimes I can't even do that! Any tips?

Re: Does your DD let you do her hair?

  • DD just turned 2, she will sit for about 5 minutes or so. She gets excited because she gets the comb, the spray, the hair thing, and picks out her bow---then she sits down and pats her little head for "her bow".

She will let meIf I do get anything in her hair it's out within 30 minutes tops.  Even a hair bow.  I give up.

Yup! I break out the iPad and she sits still for me to do whatever to her hair, ponytails, french braids, fishtails, anything!

  • nope.

i'm lucky if i can spritz and scrunch in the morning- wouldn't even dream about doing pigtails. fortunately her hair is so curly that i cannot comb it when it's dry (or it will look like the siggy pic), so i only comb it when she's in the bath with gobs of conditioner in it. at least then she's a little contained.

  • NO. Never has, I'm not sure if she ever will. I'd say about once a week she'll let me get a brush through it and put it in a ponytail. She has beautiful hair, too, so it makes me sad. Ha ha, not really, but you know what I mean. I want to do all sorts of fun things with it, and she screams bloody murder if a headband or a barrette comes within two feet of her hair. I hear it's a phase;)

  • My dd is only 15 months, but no, she will not let me near her hair and tries to pull anything that I manage to get in there out.  I have to hold her still (while crying and squirming) for the twenty seconds it takes to put a simple hair tie in.  My dd has that shaggy baby hair, not long enough to tuck behind her ears, but it hangs in her face, so I do this most of the time.  Then, I have to get her really interested in something else or she'll pull at her hair.

  • Yes, but I have never allowed her to choose NOT to do hair. It's just not an option. If I am having a particularly rought morning w/ attitude then I tell her that she can "do" my hair when we are done.. and that normally does the trick.

If she is still upset- then all other distractions are taken away.. doing hair just isnt a choice-- not with her hair flying in her face all day.

  • My LO is 2 and she won't keep anything in her hair so we just get her bangs cut to keep it out of her face. I keep hoping someday she'll let me put something in her hair.

  • If I pop her in front of Disney Junior or she is eating. That's about it. I'm hoping it gets better.
  • Yes but she pulls them out and throws them god knows where within an hour or two.
  • Have someone else do itStick out tongue  She will let my DCP do whatever to her hair.  I can usually get a pony in and occasionally pigtails if she is in a good mood, sometimes I can only get a clip in as she is running away.

  • nope -she never has let me

I have snuck a little clip in now & then that she'll wear until she' notices it's there then rips it out

her hair is SO cute in a pony tail too :(

I have friends with little girls who LOVE their hair up & with clips etc, I guess it's just a case by case basis :)

Same here. She has a ton of hair for her age (Her hair is touching the top of her butt!!) and always has so we've been dealing with it for a while now. She doesn't always like getting it done but she knows it's NOT an option.

  • Yes, she doesn't seem to mind it. It's been well over a year that we've needed to do SOMETHING with it, and she doesn't like her hair in her face so she tolerates it. She actually gets most excited about braids because she then gets to be just like one of her little friends. Maybe if you have a friend of hers that wears ponytails/pigtails/braids/clips you can play up that they do that and use peer pressure?? I have no idea. She did used to rip out bows but usually leaves them in now. If she wouldn't let me, TV would definitely work to get her to sit still - I usually put on a youtube clip while I'm cutting her nails and she's great with it.
