What would you say are some positives and negatives of close together babies?

positive: the older doesn't remember being an only and there is minimal jealousy, they will be at a similar cognitive level in a few years, I feel they will have a better bond (but that could go the other way), gets your child bearing years done more quickly so you can get on with life, vacations, etc, if you are a SAHM you can go back into the workforce quicker if that is the plan

negative: it is harder on your body to have close pregnancies, neither child gets your full attention all the time, it takes a long time to load and unload the car, the older one has to grow up more quickly (which to me is a good thing also, it means he doesn't get as spoiled as some other kids I know), for a non-SAHM the cost of daycare with 2, and there is always someones poop to clean up

Positives-Getting back into "baby mode" isn't too hard because you never really got out of it, you can re-use a lot of your stuff (carseat, crib, etc) because they likely haven't expired or been recalled yet.

Negatives-being pregnant with a 1yo is crazy hard (harder than 2u2, imo)

I'm liking the age difference right now. It hasn't been too hard, although there certainly have been days that suuuucked. If we have a third we'll probably have to space them out a little more to avoid 3 in daycare and I'm actually sad about that.

Another negative I can think of is that there are things that I would love to do with my toddler that just aren't possible. Like going to the pool. If I didn't have a NB, DS and I would be at the pool every single day. He LOVES the water so much, but it would be impossible for me to manage that on my own. We also have had to put park district classes on hold because many of them aren't sibling-friendly.

My first two were 21 months apart and they are now 5.5 and 4.

Pros: They are best friends. They play so nicely together and into a lot of the same stuff. It's easy to find activities that will fit both of them. Next year they can play soccer together and will be in the same age group on swim team. DS did a lot of stuff early trying to keep up with DD. DD is pretty self sufficient for a 5 y/o.

Cons: they don't fight often been when they do it's bad! I am afraid DS is going to lose his mind with DD goes to kindergarten in the fall. It was really hard being pregnant with a toddler. It was really really hard to BF with a toddler. It took forever to get out the door. Getting in and out of the car was a production. We almost never went out to eat with them for the first 6 months or so.

Sidenote: I didn't think having two in diapers was that bad. It was a little bit expensive but other than that I didn't think it was a huge deal.
