Pregnant after IF

Can we talk names? Are these terrible??

ok, so dh and I are not agreeing on names at all! he never has any suggestions just vetos my choices!!! uugh

We are going to be team green so we need a to pick several different combos. here are my choices

2 Boys- Levi and Rocco or maybe Oliver

2 Girls- Stella and Pearl

1 of each- Levi and Cora(probably)

I really like MY choices, how terrible are my girl names?? Dh says he hates them!  I am looking for vintage-ish girl names and I thought I did a good job, lol.

AND, do I have to find something dh agrees with or could I pull the "well I went thru everything to get them here" card and get whichever names I want Wink

I need help!!!

I like them.  Stella was on my list for a while, but we had to veto "S" names since our 2 dogs and 2 cats all have "S" names (by pure coincidence.)  I don't think that Levi and Oliver make a good set, but I like both Levi and Oliver with Rocco.  Pearl is cute, but NMS.  What about Camille or Violet?

    Love Cora!

  • Cora is my #1 name pick for a little girl so I'm a fan! I also think Stella and Pearl are really pretty too.

I love the name Oliver. Levi and Rocco are NMS but I think they're great names.

FWIW - my DH did not like the name Cora when I mentioned it at first but now he's telling everyone that's what baby girl's name is so I guess it's grown on him!

The good news is you have lots of time to decide - tell your H he's not allowed to completely veto anymore names until HE comes up with some Wink

2 Boys- I'm not a fan of Rocco at all, but Oliver and Levi have a lot of the same letters in them, so I don't think that really works either.

2 Girls- LOVE Stella! Notsomuch Pearl, but that's just my personal feeling. It's a perfectly lovely name if you like it (if your DH hates a name though, it should be off the table, sorry).

1 of each- Levi and Cora are a GREAT sibset!

I think its very important that you both agree on names.  I started with suggestions for DH, and when he didn't like them, I made him start providing suggestions.  We went back and forth, and ended up combining two into a First Name-Middle Name.  It takes negotiation and patience, but it's important--the name is your child's identity!

  • I think Cora is a very sweet name for a little girl! I could also get behind Stella or Pearl. Levi is a little too Midwestern/Cowboy for me (but maybe this is what you are going for?). Oliver is cute.

Absolutely HATE Rocco. I'm originally from NJ and it sounds very Jersey Shore Italian to me.

  • I like all your names except Rocco and Stella. I don't know any Rocco's, so perhaps that name is a little foreign to me, and I think there are already too many Stella's. I have friends who have kids named Oliver and Levi (not same family) and I think they are adorable. Pearl and Cora are nice old fashioned girl names that sound nice to me :)

We still haven't finalized our name selection, though we do have a short list. I think we won't finally decide until me meet our little guy.

  • I think all of your choices are slightly unique, without being strange, which is great. The only one that's hard for me is Pearl; I know old fashioned names are making a comeback but it is a little on the edge in my opinion.

Nice work coming up with cool names!

I'd pick names you both agree on.

    I like vintage names too

Try searching the SSA website by decade for ideas too.

  • I really love Oliver and Cora. Oliver was my #1 choice, but DH didn't like it. If baby would have been a girl, her name would have been Cora. We both LOVE that name. I also like Stella. Great names! However, you should both like the names ;)

  • I love Stella because we've had that name picked out since starting TTC so I'm partial! It's a wonderful name. My husband also loved Rocco but since our last name ends in O I vetoed it. However it's an awesome name! I like Oliver, but my only fear is the  NN Ollie. I think it's cute for a little boy, but not necessarily for an adult.

  • LOVE love love Stella! Its one of our top two girl names.

  • I like Stella and Oliver.  Cora is cute too.  I am not a fan of Levi at all and Rocco is so-so, not sure it fits with the other names you like.

Have you tried nymbler?  It's a website that you can put in one or a couple names you like and it makes other suggestions based on those names.  Maybe that would help you and YH come up with other names - if he is opposed to all of those.

As for pulling the "I can name the baby whatever I want because I went through everything" card - as tempting as it is (especially with twins) it probably won't go over well long term.  I think you both have to at least be ok with the names and not dislike them.  Now if there is a name that he is so-so on, you may get him to agree while you are in labor - lol.

  • I'm just not one to say whether a name someone loves is a thumbs up or down unless I have a vehement reaction and/or think the child will be teased mercilessly... so I'll simply say this: do you love one or more of those names?  Can you and DH come to agreement and feel good about them?  That's allll you need, sister.  =)
