Help Settle a CD arguement

DH thinks I'm crazy.  I told him to use a different diaper cover this morning because the one he was putting on DS didn't match his outfit.

With the shorter summer clothes on, his covers show more often and I try to match them with his clothes for the day.  I think covers are like baby accessories.  DH just rolled his eyes and used the one I suggested.

Thoughts?

(Seriously - I don't put a lot of thought into this matching business, it's more a subconscious thing.  And DH's choice was too clashy.)

Re: Help Settle a CD arguement

  • Too micromanaging if DH already had him dressed.

Reasonable if you suggested it before the change.

I don't care about matchy/busy. I was planning on plain white covers but my husband brought these busy ones home. They don't go with anything. Meh, no big deal to me

ETA: it's kind of funny that I don't see this as a big deal and yet I was twitchy when I noticed her grobag and pjs didn't match. We're all nuts in our own way!

  • Definitely before he changed him - he was pulling the cover out of the drawer, otherwise I would not have said anything!
  • I try to match the diapy to her outfit when I can too, especially if we are going out. However, DH is like yours and thinks it's silly. He just grabs which diaper is easiest for him at the time (as long as it's velcro! lol). I have told him a specific one to put on sometimes, but it usually has more to do with absorbency.

  • Definitely on your side.  One of my top reasons for choosing cloth diapers was the fashion factor.  Now that it's summer, my daughter often wears a diaper and nothing else . . . or maybe a shirt . . . but it's all about showing off that cute tush.

  • I usually go for a contrasting color, but boys' clothes usually cover the bum anyway. Not like all those wanton-hussy girls! :) Hee hee!

I don't really care if it matches and just let DH put anything on DS. :-) I'm afraid he won't want to do it anymore if I tell him how to do it better ;-)

  • I always choose DSs clothes while DH changes him, so I pretty much choose what will match anyway, as if I let DH choose he has no sence of colour or pattern or weather so LO ends up either boiling in winter clothes ( I know I should out these away, but I haven't got round to it yet), mismatched..or staying in PJs LOL

  • I try to match when possible, but DH just laughs at me and puts the orange ones on anyway.  I figure it'll last an hour and I can change him to what I want then... and I'm just glad DH took that particular diaper change because it's usually a poopy one that I hand off to him.  And yes, I can smell them, even though they're BM poops, but he rarely does!  LOL
  • I don't really match I don't think. I met up with a friend a couple weeks ago and her DD was wearing a BG/Flip that matched her dress perfectly and it was so cute. If his diaper was showing I might, but it doesn't really in outfits other than just onesies.
