sitter question

So I'm looking at going back to work and hiring a sitter for about 7 hours/day, 5 days a week, I dont want to cheat her out of money and not give her enough but I also dont want to give her too much, anyone who has hired a FT sitter know what the going rate is to pay a FT sitter???

TIA

Re: sitter question

  • I know this doesn't specifically answer your question, but I would have to say that this question doesn't have a one size fits all answer. Are you looking for a highschooler on summer break? An experienced "professional" babysitter? If it's an experienced one, then where you live and the going rate there would probably play into what to pay. Less experienced ones will obviously cost less, so for those I would probably be more in the ball park of minimum wage. More experienced could be up to ~$18/hr (possibly more depending on location). Can you look on Craigslist or other sites like that to kind of get an idea of what people are asking for pay in your area?

  • Depends on a lot of things I think. Where do you live? Pay rates vary all across the country based on costs of living in the different areas.

  • I live in NJ and shes semi experienced def not a high schooler
  • I did a quick google search, and it looks like you can expect to pay anywhere from $15-20/hr (in NJ) depending on what all you expect from her.
