Ear Infection?

How many of you have brought your LO in because you think they have an ear infection, get told their ears look good and days later an ear infection does in fact present itself?

I am paranoid this is going to happen to us.  DD was up all night...exactly what happened the last time she had one, and the dr said her ears looked perfect.  I don't want one to pop up when we are on vacation next week!

Re: Ear Infection?

  • I havent had this happen to me, but I have had my Dr tell me this could in fact happen. I say it never hurts to have a second look right before you leave for vacation :) GL

  • My girls have had 10 infections between them, and only once have we been told her ears looked fine only to end up back at the doctor less than a week later. At her 9 month appt, the doctor made sure to get a good luck at DD2's ears because she had just finished a round of antibiotics for an ear infection not a week before, and at that visit they looked great. Less than a week later were were back for another infection and more meds.

So yes, it's possible, and if I have even the slightest little inkling one of them has an ear infection before we are leaving town for more than a day or two, I take them in.

  • It happened to us. Went to the doctor on Thursday with cold symptoms and fever... the ears were clear. DD was up ALL night Friday night crying and fussing. Took her to after hours pediatric place on Saturday and she had a terrible double ear infection. FX that your DD doesn't end up with an ear infection!
