Eval recap

Ava was seen by a few different specialists this morning and we walked away with no answers or plan.........yet.

The pediatrician says she has a gait problem and is concerned about her eating and vomiting problems, we will see her again in a couple weeks.  She also observed Ava playing and interacting with the nurse, myself, and Addie (her baby sister), obvious problems interacting with people she knows, very good interaction with strangers. Ugh.

The nurse who initially eval'd Ava two months ago sat with us while we waited for the neuropsych, I asked why they didn't think autism was on the table anymore and she said because Ava has good eye contact.  I was annoyed with this because I didn't think that one thing would automatically rule it out.

The neuropsych did the Bayley Scales of Infant Development test and I saw her marking mostly zeros, she couldn't complete the majority of tasks she was asked to do.  Ava engaged pretty well with the neuropsych but wouldn't engage with me when I called her name.  The neuropsych said that she is easily overwhelmed by any stimuli and shuts down.  She had her walk up three stairs in front of the OT and both the OT and neuropsych said that she is hypotonic.

We spent a little time with the OT, swinging and trying to sign and checking balance.

The next step is for all of the specialists to get together and come up with a plan and hopefully a diagnosis, I wasn't given a single hint at what might be going on.  I was told that she will need OT for sure and we need to get squeezed in for a hearing test ASAP.  They are also going to send another referral for neurology since the hospital hasn't called us yet.

I'm glad the testing is done but now I'm ready for some answers.
