$1068 for a 4.5 year old

Pre-Kindergarten curriculum fee $158.25 (due to an account credit, originally $200)

Pre-Kindergarten facility fee $150 (gym, cafeteria, school building, etc.)

Part-time summer camp fee for August $300

Pre-Kindergarten tuition & before and after school care $460 (first payment)

Is it me, or is $1068 a lot to pay in a month's time (all due August 1) for a 4.5 year old? Geesh!

I know the cost of living is different in each region but to me this is a lot :-)

    Luckily, GA has a free preK program. So, it's just $25 per week for food and $80 per week for before/after care. Private PreK here runs about $200 - 250 per week.

    We pay ~1100/mo for FT care for our 3.5 yo.

    That doesn't include registration - 25 for "camp," 25 for the school year, lunch (optional 15/week), or activity fee (storytellers, performances, etc.)

    for 3's school we paid $200 a month (2 days). field trip costs + snack was additional

    for 4's we are paying $150 a month (3 days) because we switched schools. And the same with field trip and snack.

    I'm in central maryland (between baltimore and DC) and I pay a little more than that 1100 per month for the pre-k program DD goes to, plus couple hundred more in annual fees we pay in September.   That's pretty standard for out here.  If it makes you feel any better, the infant care we're going to have to start paying for the baby in January is about 1800 monthly plus the annual fees.

    The PreK class that my older DD is about to finish and my younger DD will be starting is $904 a month - that includes breakfast, lunch, snacks and field trips.  On top of that, I will be paying for my older DD to go to full day kindy plus 5 days a week of before school care, 2 days of after school and meals/snacks for her while there.
