Same temp consecutive days- anyone else? (Re: tinkitty's observation of my chart!)

Last night Tinkitty questioned whether or not my therm does favorites b/c I have so many "flat" temps on my chart.  I use the Walgreens brand BBT and googled it to see.  It does not do favorites, so the temps I get are true temps.

I always assumed it was normal to get the same temp in consecutive days.  But since Tinkitty pointed it out, it got me thinking if I'm the only one!

I'm not worried, clearly this is what my body does and I'm okay with it.  I'm just curious if anyone out there noticed something similar with their charts!

Since I'm on to the next cycle, I'm curious to see how many "flat lines" I get this time around!

Re: Same temp consecutive days- anyone else? (Re: tinkitty's observation of my chart!)

  • I think your thermometer might have favorite temps even though it says it doesn't.  That looks like a lot of the same temps even throughout your old charts.  I say if you are getting a definitive temp spike, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

This. Even when my temps are really close like they were in the beginning of my Feb cycle, they're off by.01 or something. I use mabis from Walmart and have for 1 year now and it's great.

  • Do you turn your therm off to clear it and then turn it back on again before EVERY time you take your temp?  For my therm, I would temp, record temp, turn off therm.  Turn back on again (old temp would show up), and then turn off. When I turned it on the next time, everything would be cleared out.

Sorry if this sounds obvious, but this has happened to a LOT of people because they didn't realize that their therm wasn't clearing.

  • I'm not 100% sure, but I think people have said here that their Walgreens BBT favored temps. I have the Target one and it does too:( Just bought the Walmart one for whenever this cycle decides to end!

  • Im sure the walgreens therm. does favorites....

i used it the first month and i kept getting the same temps over and over again...

your temps should vary, even if its just a .01 difference...

  • your charts look like they have more variation than mine.  I have VERY flat lines (but I always figured that was because my BBT only goes down to 1 decimal, which I'm OK with - my two high ones this month were they days it was over 110 outside, so I count those as external factor)

Anyways - I've been like this for the past few months, but I always am able to clearly see temp shift at O, so that flat lines don't worry me.  I think all you really need is temp shift at O and spike/drop before AF, other than that does it really matter if you're at 97.72 or 97.74? (maybe it does, and I'm just clueless)

I've never had to do that. That sounds like a PITA at 6:30 every morning lol.

  • I have the Target one, and like other ladies, I see a lot of favored temps.  I figure it's at least close, because I do see a few dips/spikes here and there.  I'm holding out hope and not buying the Walmart brand until CD1....

    P.S.  Sorry you're back to CD1. Sad

  • Wow, after more googling- and this time not looking just at the Walgreens BBT site, it seems like lots of people complain about it doing favorites!  Like I said, I never gave it much thought!  I'm still not overly worried about it, b/c I am getting obvious temp shifts, but maybe if I'm out, I'll pick up one that doesn't do favs.

I never knew that about having to clear the temp by turning it off and on.  Makes sense since the old temp is always there when I turn it on.  Maybe by clearing it, it will stop the favorites?  It doesn't seem that terrible since I can do it at night in preparation for the next morning.  I wouldn't do it right after I take the temp b/c I temp at 4:45am and sometimes I have to check back later in the day to make sure I read the temp right!

Thanks for all the responses!  I knew it couldn't just be that I was a freak!

Good point!  But notice I said it couldn't JUST be that!  I didn't claim I wasn't one at all!  Wink

  • You can look at my chart if you want. I had 6 or 7 days of the same temp (within a couple decimal points). I thought it was a thermometer issue so I got a new one after 3 or 4 days, but the same thing continued. My body is sort of messed up because I was BFing and just weaned 2 weeks ago, so I have no clue what the flat temps could mean for you, but wanted to let you know I've had the same thing happen. Good luck!

I've been using the BD alongside Walgreens, and consistently I get fave temps with the Walgreens. No temp shift at all this cycle with Walgreens but a significant one with the BD.

Looking at the mabis on Walmart's website and this one also says it has "memory recall".  Do you turn this feature off so it doesn't do favs?  Or do you have to clear it in some way?

Me too and I loved it, even though I haven't temped in many months!
