So what is everyone else drinking when trying to cut back on soda? I know water is the thing to go for. But I tend to have to have something with flavor. Plus there's never enough room in our fridge for a pitcher for tea or juice. Any ideas?
Did you know in TN (I don't know if it's the entire state or not) that if you go to a restaurant & order water w/ lemon they'll charge you. But water without lemon is free. From what I'm told (I have an aunt & uncle there that only order water w/ lemon) apparently the restaurants don't like people making lemonade for free.
I'm on a Crystal Light Lemonade kick. Soooo yummy! Hubby drinks a lot of V8..good for you and quite filling.
V8 has quite a bit of salt in it. Like, a lot.
I make a pitcher of water that I keep on my counter all day (I like room temp water) and every day I put different flavours in it. Sliced oranges, lemons, limes, mint (from my garden), cucumbers... Either alone or in combinations.
DD1 has started wanting 'mama's special water' rather than juice, which is a great bonus!
My goal is to try to finish the pitcher every day.

If they started charging for lemon slices in northern VA, I think the hoty toty, go green people that live here would protest. (no offense meant to anyone that prefers the richie rich lifestyle!). On another note, I stopped ordering fruit slices like lemons and limes at restaurants because of bacteria. Those things sit out all day and many many unwashed hands touch them! I guess I've developed some germaphobia since being preggo!
To your initial question, I drink water and soda water for the carbonation. And cranberry juice with lemon.

I drink a lot of sparkling water with lemon or lime or a splash of juice when I want the carbonation. Otherwise, iced tea (unsweetened), lemonade, or water.

Simply Lemonade and ice. I add water as I drink it down. But, I still have a soda once a day with or without caffeine. I also drink decaf iced tea. I'm in the south and I can't give up my tea.
I love soda, particularly regular Coke. To kick my habit and like you said, I like to have something with flavor, I've been infusing water with fruit.
In a pitcher or container I mix sliced strawberries and mint leaves, or orange and cucumbers, or orange, cucumbers, and mint leaves. It's very refreshing and gives me enough flavor to satiate my taste buds.

I make a pitcher with sliced lemon and mint... It makes the water more refreshing. If you can't fit it into the fridge, do it on the counter and just add ice cubes!
I try to drink at least 2 liters of water a day and this method keeps me on track!
I drink Vitamin Water, not because I think you really get vitamins out of it, but because it fulfills the same desire as soda for me and I figure is less bad.
I kicked the soda habit back in high school. I challenged myself to see if I could stop drinking it for all of high school. It was difficult at first but I like a good challenge so I stuck it out. I've now passed my 20 year reunion and I still don't really touch the stuff. I simply lost the taste for it.
Now I drink water (room temp or ice cold depending on my mood) and coffee. Occasionally, I will have seltzer, cranberry juice, orange juice, iced tea or lemonade just to mix it up. I usually crave plain water.

I live in TN, and I have never ever been charged for water & lemon. That's what I order at every restaurant.
To answer OP, first thing in morning I drink iced coffee. After that I just drink either plain water, or half Crystal Lite half water. I find Crystal Lite too sweet, but also this makes it last longer!
