difference btwn 4t & 4? what size next?

It's the end of season clearance and I would like to buy a few items at the discount price for next yrs wardrobe. DD currently wears a 4t. Is the next size girls 4 or 5? What is the difference btwn 4t and girls 4?

It really depends on the brand, but I've found that 5t and 4kids are pretty much the same size. 4kids is longer and larger than 4t. After the T-sizes, it's usually 4, 5/6, and 7.

If your DD is wearing 4t now, she'll transition to 5t/4kids next...so if you're shopping for next year, probably buy a mix of 4kids and 5/6kids (depending on how quickly she grows).

What I have mostly seen is the "t" stuff has more room for a diaper than the regular girls sizes. At some stores, the girls sizes are a drop bigger in some areas and made to wear with undies vs the diaper so less room in that area. It really varies from store to store though. My girls are very tiny (thin) but have long torso's so I always have issues with pants and tank tops can be an issue as they make the arm holes bigger than they need but if we go to a T size, they are never long enough or stuff like that. I have found it hard to shop for my kids unless they are with me to try stuff on or I end up returning things or taking them in. They tend to wear an XS (4-5) for my 4 year old and a S (5-6) for my 6 year old but not all the time.

5t! The 4 kids sizes are longer (and often more expensive). I think I will be sad when my kid no longer wears t clothes

From my experience, the next size up from a 4T is a 5T or a child's size 4. Apparently, the 4 is longer than the 4T and might be a bit wider too. It's weird, I know.
