Hi ladies! I am 42 and pregnant with my third child. My other two children are 14 and 11. I really don't remember how all this works, so I need some feedback. What should your HCG levels be at 7 weeks? Mine were 30,000 and 20,000 at 6 weeks. I'm concerned because at my 7 weeks u/s (when my levels were taken again), the doctor only saw a gestational sac, a yolk sac, and what he thought could be a fetal pole. Looking back in my DD baby book, I saw her and a heartbeat at 6w4d.
Re: Concerned
The baby's heart typically starts beat around 5 weeks,BUT most doc's won't look for it until closer to 8 weeks becasue those first beats are slow and irregular. Not to mention the fact that unless you are absolutely positive of when you ovulated, you may be a little bit off.
After the "ripe old age of 35" our body's don't always ovulate during the same time in the cycle.
Don't worry about it unless your doc tells you to, chances are they'll do a recheck in a week or so.
HCG levels vary from woman to woman and pregnancy to pregnancy. There is no way to pinpoint what an HCG level should be at 7 weeks because its such a wide range.
In this pregnancy, I had my first u/s at 6 weeks (tech measured me at 5w3d) and we could see a flicker of a heartbeat but could not yet pick it up with the u/s machine.
Is it possible your doc has an older machine? This could definitely play a role in how accurate/detailed the image is.
This provides some information on average HCG levels and doubling rates:

Hope you get some answers and peace of mind soon!
Welcome and good luck.
I'm not sure about HCG levels but I saw this LO's HB at 6 weeks when I had my first U/S. I think the heart satrts beating sometime in the 6th week so it is possible that it was just getting started and couldn't be detected yet.
