Any moms have a baby with a dairy sensitivity? What were the symptoms? I think I may be having that problem, he's EBF and he spits a lot, has mucousy green poop, tends to be gassy, and has eczema. Help?
Except for the spit up, this was pretty much us. He had a lot of mucus in his poop, then we had 2 times where it was blood (a small amount). We never had his poop tested, but I work in the medical field, so they took my word for it. After not gaining weight at his 2 month, we decided to try dairy free, and when we need to supplement we use nutramigen. I have to say, it has made a HUGE difference in our lives, he is such a happier baby, a lot less gas, and no more rashes!!!!
Good luck, we started just with 'overt' dairy like cheese and milk, etc and now I am trying to check labels. It's a little bit of a pain, but SO worth it!
(sry for short repsonse. On phone and nursing) sounds like an allergy/sensitive to something. Dairy is the most common allergry. I would cut it completely out for 2-4 weeks and See if he improves. For D I noticed improvement over just a few days but it does take done time to get it out your system.
Thank ladies! I'm actually lactose intolerant, so it won't be too hard to cut the remaining dairy out of my diet. He doesn't seem to have a problem gaining weight, so that's good.
It could take over 5 weeks for dairy to leave yours and his system. If he does not improve after a few weeks also get rid of hidden dairy such as whey and cassin. ie, check all labels.
My pedi wants to see Ari every time there is blood in his diaper so I would keep an eye out and let your pedi know if it makes an appearance.

I am honestly thinking DD may have an intolerance as well. I had dairy products before bed the last two nights and DD was very uncomfortable, gassy, squirmy those nights. Her poop is definitely towards the green rather than yellow or brown side, but no blood. I wonder if cutting out overt dairy before bed is enough or if I need to stop all consumption to combat the overnight gas/squirming.

My daughter had consistently green poop with occasional, very tiny, blood spots. No other symptoms. I cut out all dairy, even hidden dairy, for five months. Her poop turned back to normal yellow/orange BF poop. When she was five months old, I started eating dairy again and she was fine. Some babies digestive systems just need more time to mature before they can handle breaking down dairy.
All green poops, mucus in poops, nasal congestion, one episode of pink mucus I'm her diaper (I figured that overt blood was next), and fussiness. I have been dairy and soy free for a little over three weeks.
Sounds like my morning yogurt is going to have to take a vacation ah, the things we do for our kiddos! So much for that authentic Italian pizza I was going to have this weekend!
I had also cut out dairy - but it wasn't enough for us - Keep in mind, your milk also has whey and caesin and all those proteins too - but by you cutting out dairy you are removing many more of the problem proteins. Wesley had terrible Colic, mucousy poop - which eventually started to be spotted with blood ,skin rashes, terrible reflux and spitting/puking, and tummy pains. When we switched we went to Alimentum - he was a totally different baby, and then later when we got his 3 hernias repaired he was actually somewhat "normal." It was really tough for him because he didn't present with the allergy until he was about two months old, and by that time we were home, out of nicu, and the hernias masked a lot of the things that he was having troubles with.
I hope all works out for you! Just keep in mind, when you cut dairy out of your diet, it can take up to two to three weeks for it to fully leave your system (that is what the doctors told me at least).
Sounds about like what is going on with my baby. We went to the pedi yesterday because of blood in the poop. She told me to cut dairy out completely and use nutramigen if I was going to supplement. It's going to be a challenge because I love dairy, but it's what's best for her so I am going to give my all until she can handle dairy again.
