Did you wait for your 6/8 week post partum appt and clearance from your Dr before having sex??

I had a D&C at 11 days post partum so had to wait until OB cleared me. I went in for f/u at 5 weeks and she told me to hold off another week. I honestly was in no hurry between that, the second degree tear and just basically taking care of a newborn. I think we first tried at about 8 weeks pp but ended up not being able to actually do it until 4.5 months pp. We tried a few times but it just plain hurt too much.

If you are not doing anything for BC and your are gonna go for it....be careful. It is possible to get KU again that soon (even with having IF issues, weirder things have happened Smile )

With 3 of my girls I waited the 6 weeks. With my 2nd though I too needed a D&C and it maybe 4 months to be able to even try.

We waited a little over 6 weeks...basically for the doctor's approval and for DH to return (he was gone for nearly two weeks by that point - national guard drill).

Waited until the day after the check up to have intercourse, but had alternative fun times well before.

Longer. About 8 weeks, but H is military and had to travel right after LO was born.

Yeah, and then some. After my 6 week check-up, DH excitedly said, "So now we have the green light for sex?" And I replied, "I'll let you know when I'm ready to have sex. It doesn't matter what the doctor says!" Seriously...I'd have sooner dropped a brick on my foot than have sex at 6 weeks post-partum!

Yes, we waited until my 6 week check up. DH wanted to before and I told him we had to wait for doctor approval. I wasn't interested anyway, lack of sleep will do that to you.

I go to a birth center, and my midwife told me at my 2 weeks PP visit that it was up to me when I was ready for sex again. I was breastfeeding, and totally not interested in sex. I think it was at least 10 weeks before I could even think about it. However, as far as getting the "green light" medically, it was after only 2 weeks for me. I had easy births with no tearing.

Yes. It was the day after my 6 week postpartum visit. I had 4th degree tears so I was not going to "get back in the saddle" any earlier. I won't lie, the first few times were somewhat painful, especially as I had some scarring, but since then it's actually been better.
