We are adopting a little boy from foster care and are meeting him for the first time today. We are so excited! Please keep us and him in your prayers. I am sure he is really scared
The waste in life lies in the love we have not given, the powers we have not used and the selfish prudence that will risk nothing; and which shirking pain, misses happiness as well.

Re: We are meeting our son today!
Very exciting. How old is he?
How exciting but scary too!
Best of luck, please let us know how it goes!
Also, if you are comfortable sharing/have time to share - how are they introducing your family to him? Day visits, weekend visits, etc? How long until they think he will be with you full time?
Sorry for all the questions, we are in the process of becoming licensed to adopt and would love to hear about someone's real world experience.

4/11 Started adoption process for 2 siblings through DCF. 10/12 Found out we are licensed! 12/14 Brought 3 week old identical twin girls home from the hospital. Could be at least until Summer 1015 til we know if they are forever ours
No, I don't mind answering questions at all. In the car on the way there, so this is keeping me busy. We will spend several hours today with him & the caseworker. This coming weekend, the caseworker is supposed to bring him to do an outing near our house & then we will bring him by our house. There will then be 2 weekends he stays with us before he moves in on Aug 10(tenative date depending on how things go).
Thanks for answering! I hope the visits go well, and hope to hear more from you in the coming weeks.

This is so exciting! GL to your family and this young man!
Please keep us updated!
Exciting! Have fun!
Can I ask how you got matched? Adoption through foster care is something I'd like to do once M is older.
TTC since May 2006. After 3 failed Clomid cycles, 2 failed Injectibles/IUIs, 2 failed IVFs and 1 failed FET, we moved on to adoption!
Last ditch FET resulted in BFP, and identical twin girls!
I know this is late but I hope all went well..I am sure he had the same nervous cautious optimism that you both did..
I love this story..it makes me smile..I hope there is one happy 11 year old boy getting ready for bed right now with a smile on his face that just won't go away!
please keep us posted!
We are adopting a bro (11) and sis (9) through fostercare. They've been in the same home for 2 1/2 years. We met them in March and they've stayed for weekend respite 4-5 more times. We told them we want to be their forever family on June 16 and they moved in June 30.
Congrats on this big decision!
Thank you! I located him on the Adoptuskids website. He is located in our state. I had our caseworker send our homestudy to his caseworker. The caseworker sent us additional info about him. There was one thing I wasn't sure my husband would be okay with, so I asked him to review it. Unfortunately, he never followed up with me and I forgot to ask him about it, so I never followed up with his caseworker. A few weeks later my caseworker emailed me & said she had been contacted by his caseworker. He wanted to know if we wanted to be considered for this child. We talked about & decided we would like to move forward & we got picked! It was meant to be!
