My friend has this and I AM IN LOVE. It's amazing. It's also close to $400!!! I feel like that is way too expensive.... but I love how it's so easy to navigate. We go for long walks with her baby and it's so effortless. My friend is also very tall so this stroller is perfect. Her sidewalks in her neighborhood are decent but at some spots it feels like we're on some deep woods trail and it's great.
So my question is....
Is this the best of the best?
Does anyone recommend a similar stroller for comparison? I love the "jogger" style (not necessarily for jogging, but the style is great when you're going for long walks) and I love how it's great for tall people.
Re: Baby Jogger - City Mini GT - best of the best??
Honsstly, you get what you pay for. I don't think $350 is that bad of a price for this stroller. It is lightweight, easy to navigate, easy to fold, has an awesome sunshade, great wheels, adjustable handlebar, fold flat recline seat.
I am a very frugal person and after a Graco travel system stroller and testing out other strollers, The City Mini was by far the best.
I love my double.

I have the City Mini GT and I love it. We go for long walks in our neighborhood and, you are right, it is effortless. I also love that it is (relatively) lightweight and very, very easy to fold up and get into the car. We bought it because we wanted one stroller that covers all our needs (i.e., good for long walks, it can "off road" if we need to, it's not too big to make maneuvering around the grocery store and malls complicated, and, weight wise, it should fit DS for as long as he wants to be in stroller). I will say this, though - while I say it's not too big, it's not small. And, when I see people out and about with older babies/kids (DS is only 3.5 months) in more compact strollers, I wonder if I'm going to want something even more compact for running errands, trips, etc. down the road. Not sure yet, but that has already crossed my mind. Price wise, if you plan to use it like we do - as your one go-to stroller for everything - I think the higher cost is justifiable.
Did you use this since their newborn age? I see you can get a car seat attachment but I also saw some reviews saying they were a pain. Someone even mentioned that you could use the layflat feature for newborns and add something (I forget what) to it?
Yes, we have been using it since DS was born, with the carseat attachment. We have a Britax car seat and the adaptor attached easily to the stroller and it's pretty easy to attach the car seat to the adaptor (you just have to snap it in and then snap the staps around it). Sometimes, it can be a pain to get the car seat in the right spot for it snap in, but all and all it's pretty easy. We have not tried putting DS in the stroller without the carseat yet mainly because nervous nelly new mom that I am just feels like he seems more secure in the carseat. But, he's getting more head and body control everyday so we'll probably try that soon.
I hear ya! It seems like a newborn would just bop and roll around in the layflat setting. I'm assuming the attachment temporarily negates the easy one hand fold? I love how the stroller is something the child can "grow old" with. Plus i'm thinking that when they're older, you can pick up an affordable umbrella stroller for convenience and then you're set! We shall see.....
I LOVE my City Mini GT double stroller...we got it since my first still likes a stroller and we were having a 2nd baby. It is awesome. Very smooth, great construction, large enough for my 3 year old (with some room to grow) and we didn't get the car seat attachment for my newborn. We did get the compact pram attachment, and we've used it a handful of time so far, but I think it would get better use when the weather isn't so hot (temps in the 90s to 100 now) as there is no air flow ventilation. So we did end up buying a snuzzler which fits right inside the fully reclined seat for my newborn so I can keep the vents open and allow airflow when she is in it.
The snuzzler works great (and its cheap--we got ours on Amazon for $15, I think they are as low as $11 on there)!!! No need for the car seat attachment to be honest, unless you want to keep them in the car seat without taking them out. FWIW I took my newborn out to a theme park with my older daughter when she was 11 days old, and the stroller was fantastic. And we have since gone out several times with the stroller to other places. So it really can be used from birth!
I just got my city mini gt in the mail today! I already love it! The price tag is high....but I purchased it at justkidsstore.com and used the bum coupon code "bump15" it took 15% off with no shipping or sales tax which brought the price down to around $298. And for this stroller I think that that's a great deal!
If terrain is not an issue for you than I would say that the only other benefit of the GT is the adjustable handlebar. I am 4 ft 10 inches so the handlebar was very important. But if you are of average height than I say go for the City mini.
Which snuzzler did you get? There are a ton on amazon and I'd love to get one.
No, the attachment actually does not negate the easy one hand fold. I was worried about that too, but you can still fold it just as easily as if you didn't have the attachment. It makes it slightly more cumbersome to pick up, but not enough to be a big deal. I figure an umbrella stroller is in our future to at some point too!
