So my baby is here! This is my 3rd and she was a week late. Due to some high blood pressure and a risk of Triscomy 18 (which causes a risk of still birth) we opted for an induction.
We went in Sunday night the 8th. We were lucky enough to have family watching the boys and went for a nice quiet dinner before - something light (a salad) and then headed over to the hospital. They were very welcoming and they inserted the cervadil when I got there. It didn't hurt one bit. DH and I watched the movie grownups while I had to sit for an hour. After that I was free to move around. I was also allowed to eat - which I wasn't sure. So I ordered some fruit. I was paranoid about not being able to eat because with my first I ate nothing for over 32 hours! And was starving and exhausted.
I was hooked up to the monitors before the cervadil and was contracting - which I kind of knew - they just weren't consistant.
The offered me an Ambien to sleep - which I took because I was anxious and excited and crampy. I slept about 9-3. With some bathroom trips in between (I was drinking a LOT of water to prepare). At 3 I started getting contractions that were painful from the cervadil. I asked for the EPI - I knew I was getting one based on my other labors. At 9 or 10 AM my dr came to the hospital, and I got the epi then the pit and they broke my water. I was 3 cm dialated before all of that. I rested. We also had to make plans w/ the neonatal unit in case she was not breathing due to the risk of Triscomy 18, so we did that. Then around noon, I started feeling a lot of pressure/ pain. I forget the times, but I was 4 cm, then 6, then quickly went from 6 to 8 to 10 within less than an hour. They baby's heart rate dropped a bunch and they were worried, but it was resolved when they turned off the pit (around 2 maybe) and I was on my right side. They had started talking about a c-section w/ me a little before 2 and started giving me pushing instructions in case I dialated quickly to get her out quick. I got an internal monitor for her and I and they were showing she was okay. So no rush anymore. Well I probably pushed about 10-15 min and she came out! She had muconium in the water.
I'm happy to report she is healthy! 7lbs 15 oz Born at 3:09. I had a little tear from a previous episiotomy. But other than that we are well. You would think nursing would be easy the 3rd time around - but I actually have cracked nipples for the first time due to her latch. I worked w/ the lactation consultant and we resolved her latch, so I hope my nipples are happier!
We get to leave tomorrow morning - can't wait for this little girl to join my family at home!
