DD and DS are 27mos apart. DS has been day trained for well over 2 (almost 2.5) years, but he's NOWHERE near being ready to stay dry consistently at night. He still soaks his pull-up at night and rarely gets up to potty on his own. DD is now pretty well day trained, and almost always wakes up dry from naps and in the morning. We haven't stopped using diapers at night with her, but we're getting pretty close.
The problem is that DS is really struggling with the fact that his little sister is going to be able to wear "big girl pants" to bed and he can't. His poor little face just breaks my heart every time DD gets up dry. I know he's proud of her, but I can see that it's having an effect on his morale that he can't do it yet.
Anyone have any tips for making him feel better or helping explain that everyone reaches this milestone at their own pace? TIA!
Re: 4yo DS upset that 2yo DD night training 1st
Is there any way you can check to see if he's soaking his pull up in his sleep or if it's right when he wakes up in the morning? I thought DS was soaking his pull ups every night, but it was actually when he woke up. In his half awake state, he knew he had a pull up on, so he'd just pee then. He didn't really remember doing it though. I only discovered it b/c I had to wake him up several days in a row and his diaper was dry every day. The next day he woke on his own, it was wet again.
Other than that, I'd just keep reinforcing the fact that it's ok that he hasn't done it yet, but that one day he'll get there too.
