So tomorrow I have my anatomy scan. They are doing it at 19 wks because I got a "positive" result from my nt scan (1 in 60 for downs syndrome). I am trying so hard to stay calm but was wondering if anyone else has been through this. I am 36.
I have gone through it recently myself. My first scan was normal but the blood test came back a little high in protiens. After my 2nd scan they actually called to come back because the picture were not clear. At my checkup the next day the doctor said there were some issues with the heart and strongly suggested an amnio. My heart dropped. I had the proceedure on July 4th and found out on Friday that everything was absolutly fine. I feel so blessed and hope and pray that you get similar results!

I'm not sure where you're at, but in my area, an a/s between 18-20 weeks is routine even if everything else looked stellar. In fact, it's the "big one" where most ladies find out the gender (if they wish to).
Take a deep breathe and try not to worry much about it. you're going to see your baby and be so in love with that image, trust me.
The a/s is actually a great experience you get to see their heart working, and their brain and their little faces are clearest and ohh their tiny feet and hands are ADORABLE. However, at my a/s- which was done at almost 18 weeks, we found 2 soft markers for down syndrome. My daughter had enlargement in her kidneys (pyelectasis) and was missing a bone in each of her pinkies (hypoplasia of the middle bone of the 5th digit) this greatly increased her risk for down syndrome. The dr. pushed for an amnio, but I am against invasive testing. Well DH and I worried and worried and pretty much made ourselves sick. Then I came to peace with the fact that if my DD has downs I knew I would be great at taking care of her and making her life the best possible life and that down syndrome is not the end of the world. Then we went for our follow up scan at 23 weeks and she was fine Both of the markers had "corrected themselves" and she was born April 27th with no issues, perfectly healthy. I am not saying it is the case for everyone, but try to remember that the scans and tests (other than amnio) only give a percentage of "risk" they are not a diagnosis. I would tell you to relax and not worry but I know that is easier said than done! I wish you luck with your follow up (which is the level 2 a/s right?!) to your previous testing and want to remind you that if you have a 1 in 60 chance of having down syndrome, you have a 59 in 60 chance that you will NOT have a baby with down syndrome :-) and 59 out of 60 is great odds (I would play the lottery on those odds)
I was just able to close my chapter on this today. The second set of blood work came back with 1:15 odds of Downs Syndrome. I went in for a Level II u/s a week and a half ago to look for marker's. Luckily there were none. At the suggestion of my Peri, we opted to do MaterniT21 instead of an amnio. I got my results this morning and it was negative. My baby boy is perfectly fine.
Best of luck to you. Remember that the odds are in your favor. There is a 99% probability that your baby is just fine. Try to remain clam (I know that it's so hard) and think positive thoughts. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers.

I went through it less than 2 weeks ago. My amnio results are still in limbo. Someone has to be that 1 right? is what keeps going through my head.
I posted about my level 2 u/s and amnio last week, let me see if I can find it and bump it for you. It was called amnio scheduled.
But I'd rather know, than not know. Just know I'm there with you right now, and hopefully we both get happy results.
