When did you switch to a convertible carseat?

What age/weight did you DC grow out of their infant carseat? ?

My niece is 12 months old and just switched, but she's very petite. ?

My carseat says it goes to 30lbs, but looking at DS in it, I can't imagine it would be comfortable once he hits 20lbs.

We never used a bucket seat and started with a convertible that went from 5lbs to 35lbs.
