Natural Birth

Kourtney Kardashian delivered her baby girl naturally

 https://content.usatoday.com/communities/entertainment/post/2012/07/kourtney-kardashian-delivers-baby-girl/1

I'm not a huge Kardashian fan but I did love the episode where she delivered her son (don't know if she went natural that time) so I am looking forward to seeing this delivery as well!

I will say I love when celebrities do a natural birth because it makes it more 'main-stream' so people don't think it's only hippies that choose to birth naturally.

Re: Kourtney Kardashian delivered her baby girl naturally

  • I just read that & I was wondering if they meant that she labored without medication and augmentation or if it is just a euphemism for vaginally. I have heard "naturally" used to imply not by c-section several times lately. It would be awesome if it means she had no medication. Every natural birth success story reinvigorates me with confidence for my own hopefully natural labor in a few weeks!

  • I think they meant truly natural. She apparently wanted a water birth. I really like how she has been open about what she wants. She breastfed her son past a year and that was really nice to see her so open about it with the media.

This is what I'm thinking too - she is on the 'crunchier' side with a lot of things. I liked how they showed her pumping when her son was a baby.

  • I don't love the Kardashians as a whole but she kind of rocks my world with how calm and cool she is as a mother. During the episode where she had her son, I loved that she was just putting on makeup like it was no big deal while she was having contractions, while everyone else was freaking out. I also love that she chose the name Penelope. It's a nice alternative to super-trendy Chloe and Zoe names.

It says "all-natural" birth . . . so I'm assuming it means no drugs or interventions.  But like PP mentioned, I have heard some people recently refer to a vaginal birth as natural (which totally urks me).

Anyway, I don't watch any of thier shows on a regular basis.  I might catch an episode once every 2-3 months or so.  But I will say that I have been pleasently surprised by her choices to BF, pump, etc.  I do think it is nice to have a celebrity bring attention to these things, becasue it makes them more mainstream or more acceptable when normal people do them.  If they put the delivery on the air, I just might have to DVR it!

At 20-week anatomy scan found IUGR (Intrauterine Growth Restriction), and very low Amniotic Fluid.  Now, I'm High Risk and have weekly ultrasounds to monitor fluid and growth.  If baby runs out of room or is too growth restricted, they will deliver ASAP.  My current goal is to make it to 28 weeks!

I actually posted the same thing on my FB page!  I really don't like the Kardashians but I was impressed.  I think it's wonderful that she's shedding light to others that birth doesn't have to be a terrifying ordeal like the media portrays.

They put the last delivery on air, so I don't see why they wouldn't! Also, at the bottom of the article, they said something about it being caught on film. Guess we'll see! :)
