So,
I just started the Master Cleanse detox. So far, so good. The salt flush is borderline dise gusting, but the actual lemonade is okay. Just has a spicy kick at the end. Anyone ele doing this cleanse or have any advice. I told my family that I couldn't do Sunday dinner, becaue I was fasting. I had to, because I don't think that I could stand the table of southern fried goodies.
Re: Day One of the Master Cleanse
My only advice is to be careful. Not only is their no proof that cleanses like the Master Cleanse are effective (There?s no evidence that our bodies contain excessive toxins and there?s no evidence that cleanses flush out anything bad in your body) but they can be dangerous depending on how long you do them (since you are severely limiting your calories, proteins, essential fats, vitamins, and minerals).
Your body detoxifies itself - your best weapons to cleanse your body are your liver, kidneys, and gastrointestinal tract. In the future, to help your organs do their work of naturally cleansing your body, just eat a diet that is rich in fiber, fruits, vegetables, and non-processed foods, drink lots of water, and exercise.
There is a book called The Master Cleanse, but I read the book by JJ Smith, and some articles on the internet. I am using it as a jump start to a healthy eating regime. I will try to last the 10 days, we will see!
Thanks! This is my second attempt at a detox. I am using this time to focus on getting better with my food choices. I would never do such a restrictive regime for a long time. I just need time to focus on taking control over my appetite and rid my body of the sugar cravings. I noticed in the past, after my detox my stomach was flatter and I felt better.

You seem really angry and defensive. Don't know why. If you don't subscribe to cleansing. That is you. I applaud your passion, but find that it is misdirected. If you were so vehemently opposed to the topic, why even respond? Do what you do and allow others to do the same. I am not here to fight or debate. Didn't mean to stir a hornet's nest. Just looking to connect to other positive people on a weightloss journey. You don't seem to be that person, so I won't continue to go back and forth with you. I will leave you with this. Before you knock someone or their methods to start their journey. Look at yourself. Everyone is not focused on lose weight quick schemes. I am not. I am looking for health benefits from cleansing, which has been done since the ancient times in varying forms. So, yippee, you posted a few smart and snarky comments, but at the end of the day ask yourself, are you where you want to be physically? Obviously not. So Good Luck to You!

This!
And I'll also add that "cleanses" such as this are scams and do more harm than good. The best "cleanse" is to eat well and drink plenty of water, and make that a lifestyle.
Wow, people really get fired up about cleanses. As long as you aren't pregnant or breastfeeding, I don't see the harm in it. If it helps you refocus your eating and make you feel like you are getting a fresh start, that is great.
I think what is important is having a good plan for when you finish. Any benefit you gained, if there was any, will quickly be lost if you return to the standard american diet.
ewwww. I've never tried cleanses and this does not sound appetizing. I myself cannot go without food for more than 3-4 hours at a time because I tend to get hypoglycemic. If you wanna get toxins out, get a massage.....that's more my style:)
I never said I knew anything about what is being cleansed or that I think it would work for anything other than helping the OP refocus on healthier foods when she is done.
My point was that I hope she has a good plan for eating after it is over.
Cleanse = bad.
Whole foods, raw fruits/vegetables, water = GOOD.
The End
Your body is equipped with its own means of cleansing. If it's not working correctly, there's your sign that you need to change your methods.
You need to reconsider what you're doing. Stop making excuses for yourself and just start NOW. You think depriving your body of important vitamins/nutrients is going to help you make sound decisions about your body's welfare? I disagree.
You wanna lose weight and start making healthier decisions. Just do it. That's all you have to do. It's HONESTLY that simple. There's no need to complicate it with this kind of fad/gimmick crap.
I don't know much about the "Master Cleanse," but since there are so many passionate replies, that tells me that it's probably not a good idea. However, there is something called the "Fruit Flush" which is supposed to help your body burn fat and remove these so-called "toxins." You eat only fresh fruit, veggies, and lean protein. This way you get all the benefits from a "cleanse" without loosing out on essential vitamins and minerals. Also, I think this is a good way to start eating healthier in general.
In the end, it is your body and you can do whatever you want. Just make sure you do plenty of research before hand. You want to make sure whatever "diet" or "cleanse" you do is good for you and will not harm your body in the long one...after all we only get one!
