We have a 11.5 month old son. He was a great sleeper as a young baby. For the past couple of months he wakes up during the night and wants a bottle. At first we thought he was truly hungry, but now are wondering if we have enabled him. He typically has a bath and larger bottle (6 oz) then goes down between 7 and 7:30. We rock him to sleep and then put him down while he is already sleeping. If we try to put him down before he is sleeping he will just sit up or stand in his crib and cry. Similarly we rock him to sleep for a nap, again if we try to put him down before he is sleeping he is not able to get himself to sleep. Any suggestions/ideas?? We need to get some sleep!! HELP!
Re: 11.5 Month Old Sleeping/Napping Problems
We used to rock our LOs to sleep until it became an issue (waking up many, many times every night needing to be rocked back to sleep, waking up as soon as they were put in the crib asleep, etc). Then we sleep trained. No more rocking to sleep, and most nights they sleep about 11 hours straight with barely a peep. Are you open to sleep training? I know many people on TB are not...
Tried giving our pediatrician more food at dinner last night and offered a larger bottle before bed, but he only wanted the typical 6 oz. Tried keeping him up longer as well. He went down very easily and did not wake up until 3:15. We then tried to go into the room every 10 minutes to rub his back and lay him back down. He didn't scream the entire time as I had imagined he would and eventually fell back asleep at 4:30 and was up this morning at 6:30. We'll see how tonight goes....
