I know there are some other ladies on the boards that are as obsessed with the olympics as I am. I cannot wait to watch at the end of July. But here's my problem, we got rid of TV service/cable/etc. a while back. We have a tv with bunny ears that we can get some basic channels in, but we mostly watch everything on hulu/netflix or online. (My H has his laptop connected to our tv, so we see everything on the big screen, but it's like the tv screen is the computer screen, if that makes sense.)
Are the olympics going to be on the basic channels? If not, is there somewhere online that you can go and watch the same feeds you would on tv? I really don't want to pay for cable again, but if I can't get the olympics....
Re: Okay, an important ? before I go to bed.
I'm pretty sure the popular sports will be on NBC. If you want everything, however, you may have to buy a month of cable.
And...I'm really excited for the Olympics too.
The main ones are going to be on NBC. They have a few sister channels (MSNBC, C-Span, something else?) that are also going to be showing coverage. You can watch online at nbcolympics.com for free if you already pay for cable service that includes the NBC sister channels I believe.
We also downgraded our cable and are considering expanding our package again for a month so we can watch all the events.
Oh and if you couldn't tell I am super pumped for them to start.
I honestly did not know "bunny ears" still worked! A few years ago, people in my state without cable had to get a digital converter box to still receive channels. At least I thought that was what happened! This is so good to know.
Also, I think NBC has coverage. Jordyn Weiber(gymnastics) goes to H.S. with my nephew, so I'm excited to see her compete and hopefully win!
I think you should be able to see some events that are on NBC main channel.
Also, I wish the Olympics happened when I was up at all hours of the night with DS last year. Much more entertaining than infomercials.
me too...they made a big stink about it and stuff and people went out and bought new tv's!!!! it was crazy.....and all they needed was a box.
I am SOOOOOO upset that I start back to work in the office next week, I had been planning for months that I would get to be home during the day to watch the olympics! (yes, these are my dreams, I know they are sad.)
We are considering cancelling our cable, but I told my H it was not even a discussion until after the Olympics were over.
