EBF & exercise question

I am about 15lbs over my pre-preg weight, I am fine if I keep carrying that weight so I dont lose my supply.

With DS1 I started a boot camp style work out once a week at 4 mths and started eating like I did pre-baby ( a lot less calories) I quickly was under pre-preg weight but it tanked my supply and by 9mths DS weaned ( i tried getting it back and all I manged to do was regain weight Sad )

I would really like to get toned back up even if I cant do cardio and lose the weight just so I can keep my supply I would really like to EBF until a year with DS2.Could I work out lose the weight and just up my calorie intake even more?

Any healthy eating guides with calories listed, I would love to find some go to breakfasts, lunches and snacks to keep my calorie intake up yet healthy. I currently am nut free while EBF so I know that limits some stuff, I am also currently visible dairy free for at least 1-2 more months I can have dairy cooked into stuff though as long as its not fully dairy heavy.

Any one have any reccs for programs to tone legs, butt & stomach.

Anyone have experience with this and have pointers?

  • My thoughts are if you want to keep BF, you might have to keep weight on until you wean. DS was 4 mo when I started to workout.. I lost a lot of weight that week, but got sever mastitis (for the 2nd time!) due to jumping around and sports bra... my goal was to BF until 6 mo and so I am weaning now that he is, and looking fwd to kicking some :) to get my body back!

  • I've just recently started running again & this is in the back of my mind. I plan to wean at 12 months, so I'm almost there. That being said, I'm not going to train like I did pre-preg until I've weaned.

  • Oatmeal for breakfast helps increase your supply and is also a healthy choice. I eat mine with flax and blueberries. Add avocado to anything you can for healthy fats that help she unwanted body fat and help your supply. Drink a ton of water, also key to a good supply. I was lucky enough to lose all my pregnancy weight by only EBFbut I could stand to lose 10-15lbs. Right now I work out but only to increase muscle, improve cardio fitness and for my sanity not for weightloss, but it's intense enough. I am conscious of my supply and will scale back if it is affected.

This can certainly be done! I breastfed my son until he was 20 months old (exclusively for 6 months). I was working out again when he was 2 weeks old and was back to pretty intense workouts by the time he was about 4 weeks old. During the time that I was nursing I raced a few half marathons, duathlons etc. and trained for a cycling trip through France. I DID hold onto some extra fat but only about 5 pounds. I was definitely eating a LOT (much more than when I was pregnant and had no appetite) and I found that if I tried to cut my calories to lean out my supply dropped suddenly. But, by exercising and eating clean I was able to get back to about 118 pounds and feel fit while still having a healthy milk supply. Fenugreek (herb) also helped a lot with supply. Good luck!!
