How much dairy

How much dairy do you give your lo? I'm talking about cheese, yogurt etc.... Myles's loves cheese and if it were up to him he could eat it all day. I'm just afraid he will get constipated if he eats to much. Any ideas on how much is to much. Thanks

Re: How much dairy

  • My LO gets a lot of dairy.

She's addicted to cheese, likes yogurt, has cream cheese on a bagel part once in awhile etc.

I have no idea how much is too much. I think it's a try and see thing and varies from kid to kid. She's  never had a problem in the bathroom dept. so I don't worry about it.

  • You'll know when you get there.  My LO cannot eat much cheese.  If he does, it causes a lot of issues.  But, what is too much for him is probably not too much for other babies.

  • Agree with PP. B eats a ton of dairy and has no bathroom issues, but every one is different. Do what works for your kiddo.

  • Yogurt is one of his favorite foods and he has one every day. I also put spooshes of milk in his food sometimes to thin it out
  • My doctor told me not to give more than 22 ounces of dairy per day.  As far as I understand, the reason for the limitation is because too much calcium can cause iron deficiency.
