Hi everyone! I haven't posted here before but was wondering if you can share some of what you did to get pregnant. I am 39 and my DH 37. We were trying for 6 months with no luck, so I went to an RE. My first try with Clomid, I got pregnant. Unfortunately, I miscarried 6 1/2 wks later. They believe it is my egg quality :-( My AMH is 0.5. Prior to that pregnancy, I was on 400mg of CoQ10 along with prenatal, fish oil and folgard. (I have a clotting disorder that they found) After my miscarriage, they started me on DHEA 75mg and increased my Coq10 to 600mg and added baby aspirin. They want me to try next cycle but I'm scared. I think I want to wait another month. I have only been on the DHEA and increased Coq10 6 weeks by the time my next cycle rolls around. They told me it was fine but everything I read says I should stay on longer. I also started Royal Jelly and have been doing acupuncture since before my first pregnancy. Did any of you get pregnant with a low AMH?? What meds were you on and for how long? I feel like I will get pregnant fast with the clomid since I did the first time but I need that good egg. I would love to hear some success stories of people who had low AMH. Thanks for sharing! :-)
Re: Can you share your success stories?
I'm a little surprised they are using clomid with you since my RE told me it is basically useless for women with DOR (diminished ovarian reserve) who are still ovulating regularly and it can cause the uterine lining to be thinner and therefore less likely to be able to support a pregnancy. He wouldn't even do IUIs with me using clomid -- he said we should go straight to injectibles and would be wasting time with clomid.
That said, I ended up getting PG on a non-medicated cycle while waiting to do an IVF cycle. I had been taking DHEA supplements, doing a fertility yoga routine daily (Restoring Fertility dvd set available on amazon), and seeing an acupuncturist weekly. I started doing all of that 6 weeks before getting PG. I did a lot of research on DHEA and, although the maximum benefit is usually achieved at 3 months, the minimum recommended time to be on it to see an improvement is about 6 weeks.
I guess with an LPD it might make sense -- I didn't have any ovulation issues, so maybe that's why my RE didn't think it would do any good. My AMH was borderline - 1.1, but my AFC was only 4-5 and I definitely had quality issues too. Good luck to you!
