I have never had "heartburn" in my 42 years on earth (not even during my 1st pregnancy) so maybe this is what it normally is, I just don't know.
Anyways-- for the past few days, I have been having a hiccup sensation after I eat and then I need to vomit (just a small amount of what tastes like acid). It has happened pretty much every time I eat . I don't eat any trigger foods or before bed, so not sure what else I can do to prevent this? As an example it happened after eating a fage plain greek yogurt and berries this morning (which was breakfast). Lunch happened again, after plain salad with grilled chicken and nothing spicy, no fried, nothing really except spinich, lead lettuce, chicken and about 1/4 a tablespoon of balsamic dressing?
It does not hurt in my chest (ie- does not burn) or cause discomfort really other than needing to vomit (which is disgusting and I have to carry a toothbrush around at work).
I have a doctor's appointment on Wednesday where I will ask this, but I wondered if this is something others have gotten in 3rd trimester (I am 32 weeks).
if so-- what did you do for it?
Re: Anyone get this and if so-- how did you treat (acid vomiting)?

I have this problem, it's reflux and it's normal. My doc said it's more about how your muscles are relaxed and allow the acid from your stomach to lurch up to your throat and less about what you eat. He told me I could take Pepcid and Tums and that I should not eat within 2 hours of sleeping. I take Pepcid Complete Chewables in Mint and they seem to do better than tums but you can't just pop them like Tums. Good luck and feel better!
thanks everyone! I felt so dumb asking, but it is comforting to hear that this seems normal:) it is confussing as the word heartburn makes it sound like it would feel uncomfortable or burn (not make you vomit).
I will go and buy some tums and zantac as I don't have eihter as I have never had this before and talk to the doctor.
I don't eat big meals and what seems odd is that I could get this after each time I eat (and as I mentioned a small cup of fage greek yogurt and about 15 berries) caused it. As did a small plain salad with plain grilled chicken on it that I ate for lunch. I vomited about a tablespoon of acid after both meals and then had to brush my teeth 3 times to get the taste out of my mouth. It is not too bad-- just really weird!!

I used to have this when I was asleep which sucked. I would wake up with a mouth full of reflux. yuck.
My doctor told me to take Pepcid ac, and it worked really well. I just took it before going to bed. If you're getting this after meals, maybe you may want to take the pill before you eat.
Pepcid and zantac work to keep reflux from forming. Tums neutralizes existing acid. So if you're preventing, do Pepcid, if you're already experiencing it, chew a couple of tums.
Now that my baby has dropped, I haven't had any issues with reflux. So that's a plus.
Good luck.

This. EVERYTHING gives me heartburn these days. Water, tea, juice...the only things that do not give me heartburn and/or make heartburn go away for me is a coke or a glass of milk. I also have a friend who swears by pickles, vinegar, or sour candy for heartburn.
