Pregnant after 35

Did you have skin changes?

I have always had really dry skin.  However, now that I am pregnant, my face is a grease slick.  It is so gross and I think that it might be payback for the teen years when I made fun of my sister's bad skin.  Am I going to stay oily for the duration of my pregnancy?  If so, I guess that I will need all new skin products?

  • The first tri was rough on my skin but after that it went back to normal..... Thankfully! I noticed my face was more oily and pimply in first tri

  • I was complaining to DH and he told me that is what happens when you get pregnant with an Italian baby.

  • When I was pregnant with LO #1 my skin actually cleared up nicely (I've always suffered from acne on some level) and looked better than it ever had. No such luck this time around. About 2 weeks after finding out I was preggo my skin has become a total mess. Massive bumpy forehead and chin, ugh gross! I'm hoping 2nd Tri brings some relief.

Hang in there, it's just your body getting used to all those extra hormones.

  • Yep. My skin looks gross. And unfortunately it hasn't improved since i've been in my 2nd trimester.

  • I had some facial acne in my first tri that responded well only to topical Clindamycin ointment (Ok'd by my OB, PCP, and dermatologists).  But, since then the acne on my upper back has not responded to anything.  My OB ok'd neutrogena products with salicylic acid from the drugstore OTC, so I use the body wash, but it helps minimally.  With my first my skin did the same thing and I will say that within 2 days of delivery it all went away.

  • Ah, you have "the glow". I broke out pretty badly, but did well with belli face wash- it is pg  safe and deals with oil and acne well. The good news is that it should improve as you get further along.

Can you buy it in a store or do I need to order it online?

  • I bought mine from a store- I think I found the store via the belli website:

Now that I am on the subject- I have also enjoyed their elasticity belly oil. It smells nice and relieved the unbelievably itchy belly skin I had in second tri. I have no idea if it had really helped prevent stretch marks, but I don't have any.

  • My plastic surgeon told me that at my age I would be likely not to get any stretch marks.  I hope he is correct.

That is interesting! Finally, something positive about being pregnant and AMA!

I normally have really dry skin with occassional mild Rosacea. Now I have frequent breakouts and I look like a cupey doll because my Rosacea's so bad. I've kept the same skin products but now wear makeup daily to cover up my rosey cheeks.

I've been gettin rashes on my legs and arms (sometimes stomach too) ugh!   I'm actually going to ask the doctor tomorrow if there is something I can do...the only thing I liked about myself was my legs and now they are all red and blotchy...LOL

I'm sure it's all worth it, but boy oh boy...talk about bad skin.

  • With my first two pregnancies, my skin and hair never looked better! I think it wasn't until the last half of the pregnancy that this happened, though. The extra fluids circulating through my body made my cheeks naturally flushed, and my hair gets super-thick from the hormones.

With this pregnancy, I have seemed a little greasy, but I think that's because it's been so ridiculously hot here, and I've been out in the humidity a lot!

  • My face has actually stayed relatively clear (more so than usual) during pregnancy. My problematic skin changes have taken place in the last week or so - extreme dryness of my hands and feet, the skin is peeling, and it is digusting! Medicated cream and slathering vaseline (not lotion, but actual petroleum jelly) is SLOWLY bringing a touch of moisture back. It is insane and I hope I don't have to deal with it until the end, but at least if I do, it's only 6(ish) weeks away.

My first pregnancy symptom was itchy feet.  I keep Goldbond foot cream by my bed because the itching wakes me up at night.  Before I realized that it can be a pregnancy symptom, I blamed the cleaning lady for changing detergents without asking.

  • This is my first pregnancy and I'm at around 6 weeks. I'm finding that my face is extremely dry and snake skin like. The only other major change I've notices is that I've lost most of my ability to taste = boo. I can taste a bit of sweetness, but nothing else and there's a nasty metallic taste in my  mouth all the time. It's worth it though :)
