Sizing?

I'm sure there have been 50 million other posts asking this same question, but for you STMs, what size onesie/clothes did you take your newborn home in? I have 2 adorable outfits I'm trying to decide between, but they are newborn size. Baby is measuring big so do most babies totally skip newborn size? I really want to use this onesie!

DD was 7 lb, 12 oz and was in NB for a little while. They lose some weight after birth, too, so you should be ok. But it doesn't hurt to have a backup.

And now I want to see the onesie!

Depends on the brand too. DS was 9lb and could wear some NB clothes. He also lost a pound after birth (this is greater than average, but they do lose some weight after birth). This baby's take home outfit is 0-3.

DS was 7lbs 7oz, we actually needed Premie outfits. So, he came home swimming in a newborn outfit, and then DH ran out to buy some premie things. Those only lasted about a week though. Then he was in NB.

DS was 7 lbs, 9 oz. and wore newborn clothing for close to a month. I think it's safe to bring one newborn outfit and one in zero to 3 just in case you have a 10-pounder or something.

She was 7 lb 7 oz 20 inches and we used both NB and 0-3 in the beginning (0-3 obviously was just a little bigger on her). I say bring your take-home outfit in NB with a back-up option in 0-3.

I took a cute NB outfit and ended up bringing him home in a snapped wrap tshirt from the hospital and some 0-3 mo pants. His ginormous head never went into anything NB.

Ds was 9.1 at birth and NB never fit him. He came home in a 3 month outfit. I have a carters 3 month outfit for DD as well to come home in.

0-3 was HUGE on her!!

DD was 7lbs. even and came home in a 0-3 outfit, but was absolutely swimming in it! My plan with this LO is to pack a nb outfit to bring with us. I'll have a back-up 0-3 outfit picked out but leave it at home. If she happens to be a big baby, DH or my mom can bring it up to the hospital before we leave.

All depends on baby. My son was born at 41 weeks 13 days and wore newborn sizes for 13 weeks. He was super long and thin (and still is at over 2 years old).

So-- my advice is to take a newborn and a 0-3 month outfit to be prepared for anything. Also, I personally try to avoid buying a lot of diapers until you see the actual size of the baby and how he or she grows.
