When to stop working??

Are you working up until your due date, or taking time off before?? I work on my feet all day and it is getting tough anyone else in the same boat??

Re: When to stop working??

  • I'm working until this kid comes OUT.   But I work a desk job; I feel bad for anyone on their feet!  That would be ultra rough.

This. I don't want to go out early and then sacrifice a week or so of maternity leave once LO gets here.

  • I'm the same as the others - I work a desk job so my plan is to work until I have the baby so I don't waste any leave time.  But I did see this post on the 3rd tri board this morning:

  • My last day was supposed to be 7/20 (due date 7/25) but after last week's appointment I was 1 cm dilated and very soft cervix so I decided to change it to 7/13. I can't wait and hope I have some time to myself before baby comes :)

  • I'm working until the 21st, scheduled for a c-section on the 24th. I am on my feet, and I'm running here and there but I only work 3 days a week so it's doable. I'm actually on my feet more while I'm home alone with my 22 month old!
  • My last day at work was Friday and I'm due on the 17th.  If I had a really long commute, or a job where I was on my feet all day - I would have maybe started a couple weeks earlier.

  • I have my last day approved as my due date, July 18th. However, as the time comes down to it and still no baby, I am torn with the thought of just sitting at home waiting or working until I have him or get induced. I don't mind coming to work but the people are REALLY getting on my nerves!

I think a office job is hard too. At least, it is hard for me to sit here all day. I am a pretty active person though and would rather be on my feet.

  • I'm working until this kid comes out - unless I get an induction scheduled, I'll take the day off before to get the house straightened up and stuff.

  • I'm due tomorrow and am still working. I'm scheduled through the end of the week. I work as a nurse and did cut my shifts from 12 hours to only 8 hrs this week. I'm trying to use the walking to my advantage and hoping it puts me in labor.

  • The plan is to work until he comes out. I work in merchandising for a national home decor retailer so it is getting tough. The standing all day isn't a problem. It's the bending and lifting that is getting to be a bit much. Thankfully I have the next three days off to rest!

  • It's all up to you and what your body can handle. I'm due 7/18 and my last day at work was 7/3. I drive 1 1/2 hours to work (a total of 3 hours in a car m-f) in Wash DC traffic and was already in a stressful situation at work prior to pregnancy (was job hunting pre-pregnancy). The extreme bouts of fatigue began to take over starting at 35 weeks and I would literally sit at my desk and fall asleep like a narcoleptic or I would be extremely tired DRIVING to and from work. I wanted work until my due date though so I could have more time with the baby. I am glad that my doc allowed me to take off earlier because I was not really being productive at work.

I work on my feet as well. I'm a server at a restaurant and pretty much plan on working until she gets here unless for some reason I'm just in too much pain to work. Walking a lot is supposed to help you in labor so I'm trying to take advantage of it while making money :P

  • I plan on working until Friday.  If I don't go into labor on my own, my c-section is scheduled on Monday.  I've been slowing down as much as possible and trying to spend more time in the office.  I tend to be on the road a lot going from meeting to meeting, but it does slow down during the summer.  I was taken out of work 1 month early with my first pregnancy.  I'm glad I've been able to work this long with this pregnancy.  I'd like as much time with the baby as possible, which is why I'm trying to work up until the end.

I'm a nurse and still working, but more or less part-time at this point...I'm per diem and schedule myself so I will take it week-by-week depending on how I feel until the 25th! I get super tired after 12 hour shifts (which actually equal 15 hour days!) so I've started to work 4 and 8 hour shifts more...

  • I'm working until the baby gets here as I don't have any medical reason not to and don't want to use up my vacation time.  But I'm way way over it.

Although I'll talk to my boss about starting to work from home next week.  Or perhaps getting permission to take some personal days off the week before I'm due. There's flexibility in the work policies, it's just up to your manager.

  • I'm working from home (unpaid) on some projects. Some need to get out before LO comes and others will pick up after my (very short) maternity leave. I'm basically trying to keep things organized on the front end because I have to be back in the saddle on August 20. I am really starting to feel it this week. good luck everyone!
