I'm curious how other dog owners handle walks at this point? This weekend I started using our Beco carrier and walking both dogs (we have a split leash). It went really well and was WAY easier than the stroller. I found with the stroller if one of the dogs was pullng or being extra sniffy and stubborn it made it hard to control the leash and manage the stroller.
I had this fear at the beginning of using the carrier with the dogs because I was afraid I could trip and fall and hurt him but now I realize that while this is possible I'd more than likely put out my hands to break my fall and he wouldn't even come into contact with the ground.
Now I need to work on some squats because wearing a 20lb baby and squatting down to pick up dog poop is a little tough when you're out of shape! How do you walk your dog(s) and baby?
Re: Dog Owners
We use the stroller. I push one-handed and hold the leash in the other.
However, my dog weighs about 5lbs soaking wet, so there isn't exactly a lot of pulling going on!
We use the jogging stroler. We have a 125 pound labrador and he wears the Gentle Leader headcollar on walks. I can control him easily with one hand, even if he happened to lunge at something.
We've used it with him for quite some time now and it's become a lifesaver for us. When we have company over and he is too excited, we put it on him (without the leash) and he instantly calms down. It's also great for taking him to the vet.

I tripped while wearing my DD once. My hands and knees got scraped, but she didn't make a peep and didn't seem affected at all. It still makes me nervous to think about what could have happend though.
I will only walk with our dog in the woods, unleashed. With our toddler, it is too much to try to worry about the dog and holding her hand. If my husband is home we usually take the stroller and whoever isn't chasing the tot is wrangling the dog.

We use Gentle Leaders with both big dogs (50lb and 85lb), and it makes them easier to handle than the 18lb-er!
We've done walks both with the stroller and with the carrier. DS is a big baby (23+ lbs) and on long walks the carrier can mess with my back, but it's great for trails. I am a little paranoid about getting pulled over by a dog, even with the head collars, so I walk the calmest one and give the other two to my husband.
LOL!
Mine are pug mixes! They awful on leashes and love to just put all their weight into going the exact opposite direction I want to go. I love them to death but walking well just isn't their thing. They slip their collars (and harnesses) too from time to time but they'll stick around so I'm not too concerned with that.

I use a Moby or sling to walk the dogs. I usually use the leads that retract but I recently broke out our split lead and it was so much easier to walk them with just one leash. The dogs don't find it as easy to do their business when the other one is pulling them but they'll get used to it.
I tried to walk the dogs with the stroller once and it was a disaster! Our sidewalks are all fubar'd so it is nearly impossible to push with one hand.
I usually wait until DH is home from work to take Max out for a walk/jog. On some nights DD and DH will join us and we make it a family outing. Max's favourite though is when we go to the local trails and he can be off his leash.
I find it a little difficult to push the stroller and walk Max at once, but we do it occasionally when they weather is too nice to be stuck inside.
