We are taking a family vacation to the beach at the beginning of August but I wanted to go away for one night just me and DH. He is self employed and has been really busy and working 12 days for the past few weeks. We live close to Austin so I was thinking we could go stay on the river walk in San Antonio one Saturday night and then come home early Sunday afternoon. My mom is going to be keeping Easton. We have only left him one other time since he has been born. For those of you who have left your DC overnight, did you have someone come stay at your house with the baby or did you take them to the babysitters house? It is not a big deal for my mom either way since she lives like a mile from us. I was thinking it might be easier for her to be at our house where she would have all of E's stuff and he might sleep better in his normal environment?
Re: Question for those of you who have left DC overnight...
If it is not a big deal for your mom to come to your house, I would just do that. It would be a pain to lug all of E's stuff for just one night and your right, I think he would sleep better in his own crib.
We left DD with my mom in May for two nights while DH and I were at an out of town wedding. Although we missed DD, it was great for DH and I!!
Btw- I love the River Walk, I hope you and DH have a wonderful time

We weren't gone completely overnight, but gone most of one day (left at 9am Saturday) and didn't return home until after 3am (Sunday).
C was about 3 months at that time and we thought it would be best for MIL to stay at our house with him. It was just easier since all of his stuff was there and we knew he was happy an comfortable.
M has slept over at his grandparents twice now and he sleeps great there. He doesn't need much, I bring his regular diaper bag and one other small bag with clothes and food.
Omygosh, just have to say I'm so jealous! San Antonio became our favorite couple getaway and we even took our babymoon there. Unfortunately it's a plane ride away for us, so definitely go enjoy your night away!
I'd have your mom come to your house. Our DS is pretty flexible, but I do think he does better with all of his "stuff" and comforts around.
She slept at my MIL's house when DS was hospitalized for his surgery and for bronchiolitis. I figured, MIL had 5 kids of her own and has 13 grandkids (ages 6 and under) who she watches overnight often- she can figure out how to get Maggie to sleep. We just had her do what was easiest for her since she was doing us a favor, kwim?
If your mom doesnt mind to come to your house then yes, I would have her come since like you said it keeps you from having to pack up all his stuff.
