Giving SMs a bad name!!!

First the excuses... I have been training for a half marathon, so running 5 days a week,  I have been working 40+ hours per week AND I have been to three concerts in the past 10 days (Chilli Peppers, Noel Gallagher and The Stone Roses!!!).

So Sat DH alarm went off at 7am.  I was totally wide awake and chatting to him.  I was planning to get up at about 8am and I knew that SS had a football game that morning.

9.40am SS shakes me awake!  I was sound asleep.  SS was supposed to meet his team at 9.45am.  I jumped, threw on the first thing I saw and was in the car in 5 mins flat.

On the way in SS informs me that he did not wash his face or teeth and only ate a cereal bar as he was waiting for me to get up.  I did not bring my wallet so I has no money to even buy kiddo something for breakfast.

We get to the pitch and everyone was still there thank god and the coach informs us that the game is actually a 30min drive away.  I have no gas (as in red light on) and no money for gas!  I also had no phone to even call DH who was working in town to meet me with money.

I asked the coach if SS could travel with him and I would pick him up when they got back to town!!!  He said ok. I felt like such a jerk.

I'm sure coach thought I was a jerk to, I was standing there in sweat pants, DH sweat shirt and crazy bed hair.  He also knows I am the SM!!!

By the time I got home and made coffee I realised firstly that I was shaking and secondly that if BM or DH called me I couldn't even remember the name of the town that SS was gone to.

Note:  BM, DH and I all know the coach so I didn't let him go with a stranger BUT I still let him go.

I called DH and he was cool with it BUT I pretty much shook until I collected SS later that day.

  • sounds like a rough day, thats for sure.  I don't think you're giving SM's a bad name at all, not like its a habit that you are always late/pawning SS off on coach/ in complete shambles.  lol

I'm pretty sure you won't be winning the lousy step-mom of the year award, no worries. Some days are just crappy days!
