STM's--did you like the hospital bed?

I remember before my c-section, my dr was telling me about the how c-section wing had just gotten all new beds and how awesome they were.  Once I got out of recovery they put me in a bed that adjusted automatically to my movement/position.  It had a mechanism in it to sense my position and then puff up with air to adjust in response to every single little shift I made.  Supposedly it's supposed to eliminate sore spots from being in bed for 4 days.  Honestly, I hated it because it made so much noise that it interrupted my sleep.  So, did anyone have a bed like this in the hospital?  I'm delivering at a new hospital this time and this is one big thing that's been on my mind---I hope they don't have the noisy beds!!

  • I didn't have a bed like that at either hospital I've had a c/s at - they were just normal hospital beds.  And I also wasn't "in bed for 4 days" - I was up and moving the same day as my surgery and used the bed more as a chair with the back part all the way up.

  • I've only seen beds like that in the ICU or cardiac care units, so I don't anticipate having one (since I'm delivering at a new hospital this time).

I also wasn't in bed for 4 days.  I got up and walked as soon as possible, if I was awake I kept the head of the bed as upright as possible, and soon as I could I chilled in the chair!

  • I was in a regular ol' hospital bed. It was super noisy when baby woke up in the night and I wanted to raise it up to help me sit up and get out of bed. I think I would hate a bed that adjusted everytime I did. Also, the only time I was laying in bed was for naps and at night. Otherwise I was up sitting in a chair, walking around etc. There is no way I'd lay in bed for days.

  • I was up and around the next morning, but so I guess I didn't mean "in bed for 4 days" literally.

  • I had one of those air puffing beds and I HATED it. I made DH unplug the air puffing part because I couldn't sleep with it. When I unplugged it, it sort of felt like a partly deflated air mattress but IMO it was better than the noisy puffing.
  • Nope - I had a regular old hospital bed.  The nurses had me up 12 hours post-surgery walking and then more and more with each passing day.  Those beds sounds super nice though, I see how they could interrupt your sleep.

  • I did not have a bed like that, but I was very comfortable in the hospital bed.

  • I had one and I HATED it. It was so noisy and would inflate/deflate with the slightest movement. It woke LO, DH, and myself numerous times.

  • I had a regular uncomfortable bed after my c-section. But when I was re-admitted 10 later and on a regular floor I had that stupid bed.  I was awful and so uncomfortable. I wasn't allowed out of bed for almost 48 hrs and I was miserable and hardly slept. The nurse said alot of patients didnt' like them either.

  • I think I would have hated a bed like that. I don't even like the massage chairs at the spa I go to for mani/pedis! LOL!

I had a regular bed.......I did hate the compression leg thingies.......I swear those annoyed me the most - thank goodness they are only on for 1 night.......

I loved my Csection recovery room. It was freaking huge. At one point we had like 6 visitors and it didn't feel cramped at all. I could adjust my bed with remote and it had a tray that would swing over it. That is about all I remeber or used with my bed. I don't remember being uncomfortable so I guess it was good :)
