I was due on June 29th and went a week overdue. I had Ella on July 6th at 6:40 pm after being induced. The induction went as smooth as I could have ever imagined. Around 11 pm on the 5th they inserted cytoec behind my cervix to help soften it. Around 2 am, I started to feel really crampy so the nurse checked me and found that it was working. Around 2:45, the nurse asked if I wanted some ambien to help me sleep through the cramping and I said I did. Right after I took the ambien she said it would take about 45 minutes to kick in, which is when contractions really started to hit and I had dialated to 4cm. Around 3:20, I was able to get an epidural (thank goodness!) and I was able to sleep for the rest of the night.
From there, the times really mesh together. I was stuck at 8 cm for quite a while. While I was stuck at 8 cm, the nurse had me lay on my side to try and get the baby to move down a bit. While she was out of the room, I felt some pressure and then something come out down there. I thought my water had broke, but with the epidural I couldn't really feel much. I was scared so I had my DH check what came out. To our surprise, the whole sac came out. DH said it looked like a water balloon. So I called the nurse to come in to look and she was even in a little shock that it just came out. The Dr. said that it does happen and to let it break on its own. Well, I rolled to my back and old faithful came out. I basically flooded the bed, the floor, everything (I had polyhydromonios). The nurse said it was the most water she ever saw. After that, things progressed quickly. I felt the urge to push so the doctor checked and found that the head was ready to come out. After 5 contractions and about 15 minutes, Ella was here It was the best moment I could have asked for. She weighed a healthy 8 lbs 12 oz and was 20.5 inches long.
One funny, TMI story. While recovering, I had to use the restroom. When I got up, blood went everywhere and I mean everywhere. I had bloody footprints to the bathroom and everything. I was mortified because DH was sitting right there. As I sat in the bathroom on the edge of tears, I asked DH if he would clean it up. He replied that he already had and that it was ok because he loves me and our daughter is worth a little bloody clean up
