My son is addicted to puffs and melts! I've been trying other finger foods (pasta, sweet potatoes, bananas, etc) but he'll take a bite, maybe and refuses anything else. I make his baby food, so buying (even organic) puffs and melts feels weird. I guess they're better than Mumm Mumms...
The weird thing is that he loves the pureed versions of the same foods I've tried...he just really wants to feed himself, so finger foods would be much less of a struggle.
Any ideas?
Re: Puffs/Melts alternatives?
"What did my fingers do before they held you? What did my heart do with it's love?"
Earth's best makes these organic rice puff things. They are kind of big so I break them up for my daughter. (They are actually pretty yummy for being "baby" oriented food.) We do pancakes on Saturdays and she loves them. She ate an entire pancake this saturday. Egg whites do not bother her but I'm sure you could just use yolks.
Other things you could try
Peas
beans
blueberries (cut up)
slice of cheese (torn into pieces, my daughter likes motz)
Great Idea!
i was going to suggest freeze dried fruit. Costco sells freeze dried pears & apples in little pouches.
Little Duck Organics freeze dried fruits
I also cut chicken and hamburger into little bite sized (about puff size) pieces. Barilla makes pasta that has pureed vegetables in the dough and they are small shapes that Li likes. She's also a fan of string cheese.
Li also loves pouches. If you make your own food, Beaba makes a reusable pouch called the Babypote. Another company that makes one is Sili Squeeze.
