Does your LO take vitamins or do they refuse?

I have switched DD from the liquid vitamine to chewables per ok from Dr.  But DD refuses to take them.  I still have a little of the liquid left so I give it to her still, but am trying to get her to take the chewables.  Any suggestions?

  • We bought the flintstones gummy vitamins and they loved them when I used to give them their "gummies". You could always call it their special treat. Make it seem like something they really want.

Have you tried a different brand?  I love me a old school flintstones vitamin, but my kids hate them.  They prefer gummy ones.  Offer a sticker for taking it?  Tell her it's medicine and she needs to take it?  My kids have been on meds for so long so we've never really had this issue.  Can you just leave her on the liquid?

I tried two different kinds of chewable but havent tried gummys.  I will try that.  She is usually VERY good at taking medicine and I tried calling it that and also calling it a treat and she refuses.

  • I was going to buy the gummy ones and called the dr. to get their recommendation.  They told me not to worry about vitamins right now as he gets plenty from the fruits and veggies he's eating.

Well, DD doesnt do very good at eating fruits and veggies.  She loves bananas and applesauce and green beans.  Other than that she refuses anything I try.  Sometimes she refuses the ones she does like.

Have you tried smoothies? I know this is not the question you were asking, but this has been the key for my LO who refuses most veggies. I hide them in a fruit smoothie with some yogurt and he loves it!

No luck b/c my kiddo loves his Flintstones.  He has to take the ones with iron though so the gummies aren't an option for us.  We do make "vitamin time" sound really exciting though and give it to him while he's in his bath so he's a bit otherwise distracted.
