Re: Birthday?

  • I don't have any elaborate plans.  I'll probably get a custom made cake (as well as a smaller, low sugar cake for DS to gorge on), and I'll mostly invite family and close friends.  He'll be too young to remember anyway, so I'm saving the elaborate birthday ideas for later years.

  • I'm a color theme kind of person :)  I think I want to do a cotton candy blue, red/orange, and white.  Wintery, but the red adds a little fun!  I'm not doing anything super elaborate because 1. We don't have a lot of money, 2. There probably won't be many people there (hubby's family is all over the country and mine is a bunch of  poopers when it comes to birthdays).

  • Honestly, I don't really think much about birthdays until a couple weeks before hand.  We just invite family (and my husbands family is 7 hours away, so they don't really even get an invite) and have supper & cake.  I make the cake myself.  No decorations or games or whatnot.  Once they get to 4 or 5 then we'll start inviting friends and actually doing something because then they actually understand the point of a birthday!

  • We are going to use the party room in our condo building.  We'll invite family and friends.  I am going to do a Winnie the Pooh themed party for DD.  I was thinking of making the cake myself.  Maybe a honey pot or beehive with cookies.  I will make the food to save money and have some treats for the older kids.  That's about it.  But I am so looking forward to it!!

DD is being baptized in September, so I am planning that party first.

I agree, but I'm also thinking this is my chance to have a cute party before we have a certain someone requesting a dora the explorer/disney princess/whatever-themed birthday! We won't do anything elaborate, though, probably make the food and cake ourselves, make a smash cake for DD, and just have family and a few close friends over. We're the first in our family to have a baby, so we don't really have to accomodate any LOs but DD.

The one thing I'm thinking of splurging on is cute invitations/professional pics of DD - we never got around to doing newborn pics or birth announcements, so I'd kind of like to make up for that.

Haven't started planning other than that I want to have it in AZ(where I'm from and all my fam/friends are). We live in NV. Luckily her bday is on a Sunday so shouldn't interfere much with work and school.

  • i've given it a little thought :) I was thinking that since we live in WNY and it's so cold and dreary in january we are gonna have a garden theme or something bright and cheery :) I am thinking about trying my hand at making a cool cake too, we shall see!
