Boba 3G - not sure about legs

I'm currently renting a Boba 3G. I've tried DS in it a few times, and he has cried each time. He is almost 3 months, and weighed 12lbs 2ounces at his 2 month appointment. Should I be using the newborn setup? Or is he old enough to have his legs out? I'm not sure if this is the reason he doesn't like it. At what point did those of you with this carrier make the switch?

Re: Boba 3G - not sure about legs

  • With dd, we are still froggying her legs, but I don't have it set up for newborns anymore. She had gotten way too tall for it. I tried with her legs out, but she didn't see like she liked it just yet.

  • Most people don't rec the Boba until 6 months because it's so wide. You could try what a lot of people do with MT's...take a ribbon and tie it around the fabric at the bottom so it pulls it in so it's not so wide, it'll take a bit of trying to get it to the correct width but should help. My DD didn't want her legs out until she was almost 3 months old (if I remember correctly) though.

Is the beco better for younger babies?

Thanks! I wasn't able to get a beco in the rental, but I may go to a store that carries them and see if I can try it on.

All this. I froggy his legs, but don't have it snapped down in the infant position. I think it says 15 lbs for legs out. I tried the other day and he's not quite big enough yet, but he's also only 12.5 lbs. It's the only carrier of mine he likes right now.

Just wanted to say thanks everyone. I tried on the Beco, and with the bottom snapped he was much happier. I may try the Boba again when he's older, as I love the hood and pockets!
