Where does LO get put down?

I know if my DS had his way, we'd hold him all the time.  Unfortunately for him, mommy often needs 5 seconds to pee or to be able to keep the house in order.  I'm sure I'm not the only mommy with such needs.

When LO needs to be out of your arms, where do you put them?  The floor on a blanket?  On a playmat?  In the swing?  Jumparoo?  I'm curious what alone activities everyone else is having their LOs do.

For us, DS gets put into an exersaucer with jungle themed toys.  If he's in a really good mood, I put him on the playmat where he can roll around and play with toys.  He'll also occasionally go in the crib during the day with a few toys, but he rarely lets me walk away for long.  He won't tolerate the swing anymore, so that's gone into storage.

Re: Where does LO get put down?

  • DD spends 90% of her out-of-arms time on the floor. The other 10% is spent in her Jumperoo. I change it up with a mirror, hanging toys on the playmat, grabable toys on a blanket, chunky books, etc. She works on eating her feet, "talking" to herself, rolling over, and attempting to crawl during those times.

  • It depends how long I need. I dont like to leave him on the floor or playmat for very long when I'm not right next to him because of the dog. Usually i'll park him in the PnP (its in thr living room) or the exersaucer thing. He's outgrown the swing and boucny chair.

My son spends a lot of time in his jolly jumper, sometimes in his exersaucer and then he spends some time on the floor on his play mat or a blanket

Usually I put ds in his jumperoo or if he just ate in his swing. He only goes on the floor in I'm right there because I'm worried the dogs might step on him.

Normally, he is on the floor when I can't hold him. Sometimes with the Boppy and sometimes without. The crinkly book, stuffed animals, colorful rings all seem to keep him occupied when I need to quickly run into the other room.

  • floor, jumper or bouncy seat.  If she is esp fussy and doesnt want to let me pe, the bouncy seat goes on the floor right outside the br door so she can still see me and we talk.

I alternate between floor, jumperoo and swing. She enjoys the jumperoo most but she has yet to roll back to belly so I try to give her a lot of floor time.

  • Jumperoo, floor, or occasionally in the crib where we have a kick n play piano.  I usually only do in the crib if I'm folding and putting away laundry in his room.

This. She's alway wanted to be one the go, sometimes I wish she'd let us cuddle her a little more! A blanket doesn't contain her anymore. She rolls or creeps/crawls everywhere now. She's even working on getting into a sitting position on her own. I feel like when sitting comes easy life gets a lot easier. If I have to put her down and have her stay put I put her in the PnP with toys or Jumperoo and she's usually content.

  • We use the playmat, swing, bumbo, blanket on the floor, jumper, or the walker. Whatever LO is in the mood for at the time:)
